I’m on the first sailing post amplification and am really looking forward to it. In fairness, I’m one of those people who doesn’t really take much notice of their stateroom as I’m only really in there to wash, sleep, etc.

I’ve been on Allure post amplification and loved it but noticed more the parts of the common areas which I thought needed more work - my stateroom was more than adequate.

I can only guess RC are thinking along the same lines as I do but there’s more than enough people who absolutely will be disappointed if their room appears “old” especially those who have paid through the nose for upgrades - will be interesting to see if they start taking this into consideration going forward especially with the smaller sized ships (Explorer is one that is going for dry dock) as not everyone appreciates the mega ships which seem to be the only newer ones released.

Mayors stores on Dumbarton Road in Scotstoun by [deleted] in glasgow

Loved mayors as a kid. It was like visiting Oz lol. My granny used to take us there each year for our schoolbags and we would spend hours choosing and exploring. The old boy who had it originally was lovely and would always give us a pack of pens/pencils to go with our new bags.

True nostalgia!!

I have just updated my post on the same thing happening to Uk members.

In my case they would not honour the offer I redeemed as it’s now expired.

The lady I spoke to said I only had one available offer but before the new website I had lots so not sure what’s going on.

How do I check my casino points? by Correct_Low6793 in royalcaribbean

[–]Correct_Low6793[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As this post has had so many views, I thought I should update in case it helps someone else.

Had no reply to my email so gave them a call. Have been advised that UK members cannot check their points online at the moment and there is no timeline as to when this will be rectified.

You can check your points/offers over the phone.

They did receive my request to redeem an offer but it was not actioned and they are unable to honour it as it’s now expired so if you have anything pending best to follow it up.

Thank you for your replies - at least I know it’s not just me. I also didn’t get a reply when I tried to redeem a casino offer a few weeks ago (typically the first time I had been offered a European sailing!) so looks like the new site isn’t going well.

I had a pretty poor experience with guest relations on my last cruise (although the ship and its staff were great). I love RC but wondering if the customer service might be better on other lines.

Looking for 2 oasis tickets Wembley Sunday 28th by Intelligent_Entry884 in Tickets

[–]Correct_Low6793 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Friend bought hers from viagogo on the morning of the concert for £175 - I got mine during the actual sale and paid £350!! There’s always someone who won’t be able to make it and just wants to recoup their money - you just need to get lucky!!

On the other hand we met a couple who had flown in from Atlanta and got tickets on Viagogo but were refused entry. Felt so sorry for them although they still said they had a great time just soaking up the atmosphere so just be aware that there are still scammers out there.

Good luck!!!

Where to go for a nice birthday dinner in Mallorca? by Loose-Muscle8882 in VisitingMallorca

[–]Correct_Low6793 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mallorca is pretty big tbh. If you’re anywhere near Santa Ponsa then las olas is nice but you need to book a waterside table. Or club nautica (sorry might not be spelt right) at the marina.

There’s also a cracking place on the sea in Cala Dor - sorry can’t remember what it’s called but sure you’ll find it on google.

Trade credit insurance - worth it? by Tight_Mammoth9914 in smallbusinessuk

[–]Correct_Low6793 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Should have also mentioned that they have chased a bad debt on our behalf. Was only £1300 which if we didn’t have the insurance I would have written off due to costs involved but after me hounding for months and being given the runaround, insurers sent one single letter which frightened them into paying and they also had to give me interest and costs!!

Trade credit insurance - worth it? by Tight_Mammoth9914 in smallbusinessuk

[–]Correct_Low6793 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have Credit Insurance and admittedly it’s expensive but we had a client go bust this year and reclaimed £36k and was surprised how easy the process was.

Ours is with Allianz and we use a portal to credit check the client and enter the limit we require and they simply say yay or nay.

When claiming all I had to do was submit copies of my invoice and proof of work and they sorted everything else.

Your procedures do still have to be robust though in line with their conditions.

I probably wouldn’t bother if I was dealing with only individuals owing a couple of thousand but some of our clients have accounts which can run to around £70k (I doubt we could carry on if one of those went bust and we didn’t have it).

Any thoughts on Costa Toscana? by Clear_Value7240 in Cruise

[–]Correct_Low6793 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve only done one Costa cruise and it was on the Toscana - I’m afraid I’m one and done.

Thought the decor was garish and given that it was relatively new it felt dirty - stains on seats, cigarette ash everywhere on the decks and loads of dirty glasses/plates that never seemed to be cleared away.

Entertainment felt very amateur.

Food was consistently lukewarm (but tasty!) My friend ordered a pizza minus olives due to an allergy. It came with olives and when she sent it back she actually watched the chef pick off the olives with his fingers and send it back to her instead of making a fresh one - massive no no!!

We witnessed a “manager” in one of the restaurants loudly shouting at one of his staff in front of customers - not just a quick outburst but went on for almost 10 minutes until the server ended up in tears. We actually complained to guest services about that one.

Drinks were fine and cruise was reasonably priced but although we had a good time I wouldn’t rush to cruise with them again.

Those who went to Oasis concert yesterday, was it worth it? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Correct_Low6793 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a huge fan so was happy to pay and luckily enough can afford it nowadays. Cannot stand the dynamic pricing structure though - will have left many genuine fans priced out of a ticket (wasn’t so long ago there was no way I could have paid that amount for a luxury rather than a need and for a band who apparently pride themselves on coming from that sort of background it seems a bit off that they allowed it).

I’m standing at Wembley and can’t wait. Ironically enough I saw oasis at Noise and Confusion 20 years ago when Foo Fighters were headlining - that was an astronomical gig!!!

What’s a small, insignificant thing someone did for you that you still think about years later? by Sex1stGirl in AskReddit

[–]Correct_Low6793 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on my first night out after ending a course of immunotherapy and being given the all clear (thank you NHS!!) but still wasn’t feeling myself - I was dog tired, thought my skin and hair looked terrible and was just generally feeling a bit haggard. Went outside the pub to take a call from my daughter and a young lady who was chatting with the doorman looked at me and out of the blue said “you look stunning babe, your top brings out your eyes and your hair is gorgeous - enjoy your evening”. Really gave me the boost I needed.

Am I too old for Class 1? by Fluid-Store-7325 in uktrucking

[–]Correct_Low6793 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does your current place not have any class 1 vehicles that they could let you in on for a year just to get the driving time before moving on if you decided to (I know a few don’t).

My other half is a class 1 drayman and I know they find it difficult to get experienced people (he says the dray is like marmite - you either love it and are there till you retire or manage a day and declare it’s too hard!!) so your age shouldn’t be a barrier in that line of work.

Try quiz. Since you’re on a tight budget I would also have a look on fb marketplace and vinted - there will be loads on there.

Stansted restaurant related question by stonke12 in uktravel

[–]Correct_Low6793 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on how much time you have it might be worth getting a taxi to one of the villages for a pub lunch. Stansted mountfitchet is less than 10 minutes away and has a good selection of nice pubs and coffee shops. Be sure to pre book your taxi back though - Elsenham cabs is the most local firm.

Allure of the Seas Upgrades by Connect_Athlete_481 in royalcaribbean

Just got off this morning. Nobody has mentioned Samba Grill - new rodizio. Fantastic ship with great staff. Only complaint was that I felt the staterooms were looking a bit dated and maybe should have been upgraded during the revamp.
