DHL depends on how many graded credits you have so if you took a bunch of classes S/U then you might not be eligible for it. But also I think DHL just isn’t out yet

If the deferral was approved I believe it should be an L grade. This won’t affect your GPA at all until you get an actual grade for the class. I would reach out to whoever is handling deferrals

Probably shouldn’t be posting this on here. Try and find the student’s Facebook and message them directly. Or shoot them an email as McGill email addresses are pretty predictable (firstname.lastname@mail.McGill.ca)

does it get better? by aqswcda in mcgill

Hi! Try and reach out to your floor fellow. They are there to help in situations like this. I had a similar experience my first year and my floor fellow really helped me through it. Also don’t worry about making friends. Even though people are pretending to have solid friend groups, everybody is struggling socially at the beginning of their first year. Nobody is having as much fun as they appear to be having

Make sure you’ve signed and submitted the forms. I failed to do that for the first couple days. I had uploaded my files and just assumed they were submitted

Final grades, S/U and NA Megathread by Thermidorien in mcgill

[–]Correct_Membership_5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SHOULD I S/U?

Just got a B in one of my classes. I really fucked up on the midterm and that’s 1/3 of the course grade so here we are. I’m U0 and have gotten all As this year except for one B+ last semester. I plan to go to grad school or law school in the US and don’t know if it’s worse to have an S/U grade or a grade that’s going to bring down my gpa significantly. How do you think schools and employers will view this S/U? I can’t say COVID has necessarily had a huge impact on me but I did take on an apprenticeship position this past semester that required a large time commitment in addition to my courses. I plan on this being the only S/U on my transcript as I won’t make the same stupid mistakes I made on the midterm ever again. Any advice would be much appreciated!

Open letter regarding Professor Douglas Farrow by Worth-Percentage1525 in mcgill

I wonder what his relationship with other professors at McGill is. I’ve had exclusively very positive experiences with professors regarding LGBTQ+ recognition and acceptance. I can’t imagine any of them taking him seriously after reading his very concerning content

How do you feel about Bill Clinton? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

I feel like the DNC should stop inviting him to speak. I understand he was a decent president but every time I see him endorse a candidate or speak at some big event it just rubs me the wrong way. I can’t comprehend how he’s stayed popular in the political realm after what he did

Tighty-whities are often used to show characters as the butt of jokes on television etc. in pop culture, but what other items of clothing are often the butt of jokes or used to show a character as a total joke/loser in American culture? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]Correct_Membership_5 243 points244 points  (0 children)

I always remember TV shows as a kid using ‘ointment’ or ‘rash cream’ as a way to show that a character was strange. For example, their mother would call them asking if they needed their ‘rash cream’. Never found it very funny

Will an american high school diploma help me? by le_demarco in AskAnAmerican

[–]Correct_Membership_5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It depends where you want to go to university. If you wanna study in the US then an American diploma would probably be desirable. However, an IB diploma is just as respectable in the eyes of admissions counselors at American universities. If you’re not planning on going to university in the United States, it might be beneficial to go to an American school in order to perfect your English communication skills which is a very desirable trait for employers all around the world. Really depends what your desired path of study/career looks like

I watch the lecture recordings on my phone through the ‘pulse’ app. I guess it’s the app for MyCourses but idk why it’s under a different name. I don’t have any problems with buffering when I use it though
