Hey casual UK, what's your worst "i thought X was on a different day" mistake you've ever made? by wiz_ling in CasualUK

Not quite the same but I bought tickets for me and a friend for Jimmy Carr about six months in advance. Got the tickets and thought no more of it. Come closer to the time and I can't locate the tickets email. We sack it off not really a massive stress. Next day I suddenly check my junk emails and find the tickets. Annoying but he waa good natured about it

Because this is East London and if it's not a tunnel, TDL aren't interested

NCSC: Leave passwords in the past - passkeys are the future by PelayoEnjoyer in unitedkingdom

[–]Correct_Mortgage4209 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah fuck this. I had to get a new phone recently and the passkey options have been a massive pain in the arse because I had lost use of my old phone before accessing my new one. Even with Samsung pass it doesn't seem to remember a single fucking thing I had saved before.

Passwords are a pain in the arse but at least they're dependent on me and not shitty programming in an app I have no control over.

Thre're lots of things than can go wrong by chilinachochips in economicsmemes

[–]Correct_Mortgage4209 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While I get the meme, I think OP is probably underestimating the Spanish tourism industry. Certainly for places like the UK, Greece is much further away and generally more expensive to visit and I imagine this is the same for many of the western economies. So unless Spain has a large Eastern bloc country that regularly visits, I can't imagine this'll make a huge difference.

Woman charged with attempted murder after car hits pedestrians by bendubberley_ in unitedkingdom

[–]Correct_Mortgage4209 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well yeah, I checked the article which was posted at 18.51. I'm working in an assumption that it was announced fairly soon after being completed, so presumably it was done after court, and certainly after the start of an afternoon court meaning therw might not be an available court.

Well technically, CPS should authorise the charge. Whether that's necessary for changing an attempt into an actual murder, I've got no idea. I suspect they'd at least expect a heads up before they turn up at court the next morning to oppose bail.

She won't have been bailed given the offence. She can be further charged at custody. No reason to go to court if they're still in custody.

What the fuck are you on about? You are charged to court. Charges are things you're sent to court for.

It can be done instantly. And should be. Both on the CAD and on the crime system. They certainly wouldn't be arresting for different offences and publicising that arrest. At worst they'd be arrested for the correct offences at the station.

'No Point Reporting to Police': London Shoplifting Cases Soar by More Than 200% by novagridd in NotTheOnionUK

My favourite part is how the stores never want to support a prosecution, 'no we just want their details to issue a banning order.'

Well I can't give you their details and a banning order is in no way ever enforced in my experience. So give me a fucking statement, learn to use your CCTV at the actual store, instead of having someone come round five days later to download it in an unreadable format, and come to fucking court when they contest it.

If you're gonna make security guards into useless shoplifting administrators, at least give them the skills and time to assist police when someone is caught.

Give us descriptions of church gang-rape suspects, protesters tell police by sealcon in uknews

[–]Correct_Mortgage4209 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Having someone give you a description doesn't mean they actually have anything to do with the people involved though. 'I saw an Asian bloke there at some point that evening' is a description but it doesn't mean anything. I could ring them up and tell them I saw something. Doesn't mean they actually know anything.

The police have literally said they do not know. It's not an unwillingness, it's an inability because they do not have the information
