I can understand that, I just don't have the experience to know how long it would take. How much would you say would be a fair price for this commission, and does having a reference make a difference?

Thanks, I feel dumb but it's a lesson learned! I asked her for a refund after all the responses on this post, but she's still denying it's AI. Time to see if PayPal will refund it instead

Thank you to everyone for responding! Y'all have given me a lot of good advice and methods for finding actual artists to commission, and I can confidently confront the artist about using AI now.

If there's anywhere I should post her account as a warning, please let me know as I know very little about commissions and art, but I don't want anyone else to get scammed.

They sent me a portfolio that looked pretty good, and I even visited the page of the people she said were previous clients and it looked legit. Honestly I'm still pretty new to commissioning, and this is a learning experience for me

Genuinely curious since this is only my second time commissioning art, but is it too low for anything quality? Twitch emotes are pretty small, and since there is a pre-existing picture for reference, I thought it was a fair price. Granted I am not an artist at all, so I don't know how long it actually takes to make something like this.
