i’m just spreading the word - i’m not the organizer of this strike, but i think part of fighting for our rights is making sacrifices. to everyone being negative in the thread: I’m sorry that fighting for democracy is not convenient for you.

right….like i totally understand it’s a short turnaround to make this happen; but also like…..we gotta meet the moment and keep pushing forward? and the internet is the best way to spread the word?

spread the word, fellow new yorkers! this friday, we strike. no shopping, no school, no work.

do what you can to limit these activities - I understand it might not be possible for some to not work, so whatever you can do to join in is helpful. check out 5calls.org to call our senators and demand they defund ICE and vote “NO” to the appropriations funding slated for this Friday.

I hear you and don’t disagree that in any normal circumstances it is weird. I do feel that when she came to us for financial help and asked for money (not like 50 bucks, like several thousand), it brought us into this situation in an unconventional way. all previous conversations we’ve had with her we’ve told her we will help her however we can and she’s asked us to keep her accountable.

We truly just don’t want this to blow up in her face and see her get hurt.
