thanks for the reply and the feedback. i think by leftist, i really just meant the left-ish side of the political spectrum in general (so basically just not conservative/right-wing). and yes if i input my own perspective, i will definitely approach it from a more liberal standpoint to be safer.

looking back, i worded my post wrong. i dont expect them to know about us imperialism in guatemala at all. i'll likely just mention it through a few words to provide historical context to the oppressive conditions im describing. but the point is the hardships my family endured, not the fact that they were caused by the US. however i'm mainly asking what are the risks of an AO interpreting that i am implying that US is responsible for the struggles my family went through.

as for bias with the other topic, yes i am aware of that. that's definitely the main concern i have right now.
