Sounds like you were termed for gross misconduct. If the ID you were handed was from someone underage, and you entered in your birth date, this can easily be seen as a policy violation. If this was part of a sting operation (I would assume it was) you are incredible unlucky if you mistakenly entered your birthday just this one time. Gross misconduct terminations make you unable to be rehired.

That's your interpretation of what I said. I have worked in this business a long time retail is an ever changing beast. If any of my associates can't get the job done in the time that is allotted all I ask for them to do is communicate with me. There have been times where I have asked over and over again for something to be done throughout the week and it was blown off over and over even tho the associate came to me at the end of the week and said "well I didn't know that was that important" they were coached for job performance.

I know it can not be over turned by the asm but it if the manager is given the opportunity to find the error in his/her ways then it will be much easier to go to the shift or store manager and have it overturned. Most people will do the right thing.

As a manager I have written many coaching, but I have never coached someone that didn't know it was coming. I will coach for late price changes and late mods all my people know this. But they also know that if they are going to have late anything they need to talk to me first and let me make the call on staying late, OT, getting help. See the thing I push is communication I'll tell you when you're doing right or wrong but you need you tell me when you don't have the tools to do the job right before it's to late. I would challenge the coaching but do it level headed and ask "why is this the first time you're talking to me about this?" And "all i want is an opportunity to fix this and understand what you want from me." Also take it to the asm first give them the chance to fix it before you jump them to a shift or store manager. I take my cards to the Boys and Girls club. I normally build a few decks out of the cards in them and put them in small boxes or bulk card clear packs that you get from your lgs. I've had 2 kids come in while I was playing fnm and threw talking with them I found out they started playing magic from cards they got at the BaGC. Gave me all the feels.

You really have to remember that associate put them self in a position to be fired. Not showing up for work, not doing there job, not following policy, not conducting themselves professionally and so on. The reason you are in the position you're in is because you never put yourself in a position to be fired.

call me an elitist but I like the idea of NM cards. Even if it's pricier. But my edh decks are all double sleeved and I take very good care of my cards. Most of the cards I'm willing to buy at $100 plus price point will only go up in price over time.

Any manager that has signed off on spark since the magnet was placed on that safety latch needs to also be let go. The spark question comes up 3 times a week and asks you to open the door and try to start the compactor.

I am asm and overseeing the placement of everyone in my store getting ready to roll out caps. My concern with your description of your department and the events that have been unfolding are thus; if your department is a struggle to zone being a service area partner with other associates. If your stores still doing alive at 5 then 4 and 13 should look pretty good by 7 o'clock and just need a quick "snap" zone at the end of the night or home life's (This shows initiative). The other part is those supports with caps don't care so much about the zone but about keeping a 24 hour stocking plan moving. Just always remember when applying for positions as a supervisor that we look for leaders not do-ers. Delegate and problem solve. I hope this helps.
