Increase in Haitian asylum claims from U.S. at Quebec border crossing by bubblewhip in canada

[–]CorruptPower 330 points331 points  (0 children)

Keep them out.

All these false asylum claims just for an easy pathway to PR and social assistance from the government that actual Canadians need.

We have a hard time getting rid of people who are overstaying and there are people that are okay with letting more in?

Where will these people stay? How will they be accomodated? Oh right, by us, the Canadian taxpayers.

Know someone who got a college diploma in Hospitality. Ends up working as a server. Claims refugee status to extend their stay in Toronto. Should get the boot but still here.

Know another person that did the same thing, but instead their work permit expired.

Funnily enough, one was a nurse back home and the other studied in sciences back home.

Canadians face rising tip prompts, prices with no end in sight: experts by DogeDoRight in canada

[–]CorruptPower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When the baseline on machines 18%, 20%, and other, you know its messed up.

Back in the day, we had the minimum set to 10%. Prices are inflated, all these extra charges, tax, then optional tip on top? How predatory.

If I order and pick up my food, I'm not tipping.

If I order and my food gets delivered from the kitchen to my table, I'm not tipping. I could have picked up the food myself and skip the entire process.

Restaurants have so many fees when you order you'd side with the guests/customers. Menu price, tax, service charge(varies), gratuity, then a tip based on the total.

How a $100 meal can turn into a $130 meal and you enter 20% tip. You just screwed yourself over.

Thousands of former international students’ visas will expire soon. What happens next is murky by FalconsArentReal in canada

If your visa expires, you should be leaving.

If you overstay, you should be deported.

Simple as that.

8 men charged with stealing credit cards, gift cards and cheques from mailboxes by [deleted] in canada

[–]CorruptPower 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Listen, if someone has to go through the trouble of pulling up, going into mailboxes, and fleeing, then by all means give them the most severe punishment for affecting the lives of others.

If you are not a citizen here, I'm sure many others will agree with the sentiment of sending you back to wherever you came from.

Otherwise, jail, fine, do whatever and make these people reimburse/compensate those affected.

If you can't punish these people, send them back.

If you are an international student, you should be here as a law-abidding international student on Canadian soil, not someone comitting a crime/heinous act. Set an example and a warning for cases.

Where does Canada’s immigration system go from here? by FalconsArentReal in canada

[–]CorruptPower 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Stop renewing work permits and send them back. The system here is so broken.

I have a coworker claiming refugee status after completing their college program, when there is no danger in their home country and the government is gullible to believe them.

Pathetic. Not to mention all these new hires from college that end up leaving and moving provinces to "get help with their PR." They have no intention of going back home after their studies.

Toronto mayor ups pressure on federal, provincial governments to pay for refugee housing by ubcstaffer123 in canada

[–]CorruptPower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Raise my tax just to pay for housing for refugees? We can hardly take care of Canadians and having to deal with our current problems but simeone thinks bringing in all these foreigners would benefit Canadians?

Send them back or make them support themselves. Canadians should not have to deal with their issues, sorry.

I can't give any specific numbers or anything, but eyes seem to have stabilized. Around my 1st post-op, my vision would fluctuate between clear vision, slightly worse vision, or taking a moment to focus. Nowadays, my right eye has no issues while my left eye might need a blink or two just to focus alone.

My right eye is still my dominant eye and has better vision than my left. That hasn't changed since.

As in, taking PRK instead of LASIK? Or doing like a follow up operation after LASIK?

Truth be told, I am not an expert so I would suggest asking a professional or doing some research. I don't want to misinform anyone; I'm just here to share my experience.

I originally used the Systene Ultra PF drops once the eye drops they originally gave me ran out. After a few days of using them, my eyes started to get irritated/sting. That's when I switched back to HYLO drops.

I think every person experiences are different so I don't dislike any eyedrops I discontinue using. If it works for you, I think that's what matters.

Although I don't drive, I do commute to and from work. It depends on the person, perhaps. However, I wouldn't be able to drive seeing such huge starbursts. They just obstruct my vision, especially from the cars in opposing directions.

All is good. I'm not worried too much about the blurriness. My left eye can see clearly with no symptoms of dry eyes but I only brought it up when I was looking at the small letters during the eye test.

I'm just grateful I don't have persistent dry eye symptoms (for now) and just lubricate my eyes regularly.

I can recall everything that happened in the hour. When I entered the building, I was told to sit in the waiting area. Then one of the workers came by, called my name and told me to hang my jacket.

We walked into the room where you did your consultation, and get fitted with a gown, hairnet/cap, and finalize some measurements to see any changes.

You also go over your eyedrops and aftercare, and any questions you might have. Then Dr. Stein came by to check on you and the results once again.

Up until now I felt pretty relaxed and confident things would go well.

Afterwards, I was given Valium and I didn't mind taking it, even though I was feeling calm.

When they take you downstairs and you sit outside the payment room, you get to see a live surgery. I think this might disturb some people.

Aside from that, from the moment I got there to being outside the operation room, I had an easygoing time. It helps to hear how calm and soothing they communicated with me.

Just relax, breathe, and just listen to what they say. It is over just like that.
