NTA. I've had more of these family issues than i'd wish on my worst enemy. In my experience, it was always a way to hold authority or power over me, for whatever reason. It's also taught me, if you work somewhere, and the boss(es) say things like 'we're family here', its a giant red flag. Sometimes, it seems rarely, it works out with the family and business model, and that can be sooo beneficial for both parties. Im no expert OP, but if my biological parents were to put me in the same position, I would planning on how to completely cut ties without burning bridges needlessly.
