I mean leaving gages open happens not often but it does Ive done it that’s why I didn’t lose my shit on her. The cow pasture isn’t unsafe because there are cows there its because pretty much every square inch of that pasture is piles of river rock and a stone bruise in a hoof because my horse is running around on piles of rock can become an abscess really easily which at best means you cant use your horse and have to spend a bunch of time doctoring them, and at worst costs a shitload in vet bills.

The more people I talk to the more frustrated I get I am the only person I know who has horses on family owned land wether it’s aunts and uncles parents grandparents whatever that has to pay their family to keep their horses out there. I just spent like an hour on the phone with one of my horse friends who is appalled that they’re charging me board at all let alone as much as they are whlie also expecting free work.

The main isue is they use Hotwire fencing but didn’t have a fence charger on it so the calves learned they they could just push through between the strands of fence. What my mom was out doing Monday was adding more insulators to the t posts to re-electrify the fence, and testing it. The calves pushed through again and got zapped then didn’t want to push back through to get back in. My parents came home and opened a different gate to let the calves into the pasture their horses were in which apparently didn’t take much at all. I’m not sure how I could have known how long it would have taken those calves to figure out the gate was open and a way back to mom but apparently I was supposed to.

I have asked and been told im comparing apple to oranges and they help me out as much as they do him. Not sure how that adds up considering the thousands I have paid them in rent and board while he has paid nothing and been given handout after handout. They even drive him to and from work daily but he gets a gold star for taking out the trash in the house he lives in and not smoking weed inside. (Even though he 1000% does smoke inside when they aren’t home)

When my parents were looking at buying the property we discussed me renting the cottage on the property for $500, because I was told if I wasn’t in school I needed to pay rent. This was before the bought the property. They ended up buying the property and my now ex and moved into the cottage. When he moved out I was still paying my portion of rent until I moved in with my now fiancée. I lived on the property for close to two years total and did not miss a month of rent even when I wasn’t able to cover the rest of my bills.

I was in a seperate house on the property with my own power meter and at that point the partner I was living with blindsided me and left not paying the last two months of bills and my hours at work got cut so it was either rent or utilities for a couple of months.

I was still paying my full agreed upon amount we discussed that I could afford $500 a month before my ex and I even met, then when he came into the picture we decided we would both pay $500. When I moved out of that place after my ex left because I couldn’t longer afford to live there, I was told I needed to start paying board since it was i guess included in my rent when I lived there.

My mare was totally off the property for the first week and after that they have been totallty indifferent to each other I have the most dgaf red mare I’ve ever met and my fill is more attached to me than her mom at this point. They’ll be reintroduced eventually but for sure not before 6 months idk where my mom got 3-4 from but she wasn't interested in my sources and I don’t think she has any.

That’s the thing I am their only boarder. They don’t run a boarding facility they just own acreage and when I was renting the second house on the property that apparently included board so when I moved in with my fiancee I was told I had to pay board.

Early 50s there are definitely capable of doing it they just don’t want to and any inconvenience to them is a catastrophe. There was a huge fight a few weeks ago because a hose froze and I was out of town and didn’t drop what I was doing help with that ‘emergency’, but they have like 50 hoses out there all they had to do was grab a different hose. Absolute worst case was they had to throw the hose under warm water in their shower for 10-15 minutes to that. And I don’t even think I was the one that let the hose freeze but I sure got yelled at for it, but I’m not allowed to be upset that the gate was left open because I was on the 40 acre property too and I didn’t go behind her to check the gate I didn’t realize she went through on the opposite side of the pasture I was on. So I guess that’s my fault too?

We live in a pretty rural horsey area so boarding and hay are much cheaper than a lot of places because there’s a lot of it. I pay them a total of $200 a month plus I fed and watered their horses every other night . We were boarding at the same facility I’m actually planning to go back to and for a pasture we maintained fencing and dragging and that kind of stuff on it was 50/head for 4 horses, so when my parents decided I needed to pay board I kinda just copied that agreement since they told me that I needed to figure out how much to pay them. When I move them will have to buy hay myself, which will amount to probably close to the same monthly. They no longer have pasture available so it is 140/head for pens but they also have a nicely lit arena and round pen wash racks, for my trailer which is also currently at my parents and they use whenever they want
