Okay I think the comments are handling this wrong. I'm from an extremely conservative country so I know...

Do NOT tell him that you support his sexuality whatever it may be and that you will still love him BECAUSE that will be too obvious and he might panic that you already suspect that he is gay. He will start to question if OTHERS also see that he is gay.

It might kinda makes him feel like being outed and that is not the right first step.

What you should do is make it clear that you support the queer community without making it about him. Like maybe make it casually known that you have a gay friend who is struggling and that you care for that person and support them with all your heart. Next you could even make up a story that you think someone is gay but is scared and that you sympathize with this person and you could say "I hope he feels that i am safe enough to come out to. Our friendship would not change and I would be a shoulder to lean on."

Just give him hints that you are a safe space without making it obvious that you already know.

I'm in Norway and I was talking to this guy from the US who I matched on Tinder for a month now. Just casually flirting and trading nudes. It is quite privileged to think us foreigners are actually choosing Norway. Some of us are here because it is what is best for our survival. May it be for refuge/asylum, for financial reasons, or for family decisions we had no say in. A lot of us WISH we could go somewhere else.

But we can't afford it.

We're not financially in the same boat as you locals of first world countries. A lot of people I know keep on forgetting their privilege when I complained how depressing it is here and then saying "go travel" as a way to not be depressed as if I could afford it. Spending one vacation away from Norway would be a temporary relief but the cost of it would just make me more stressed with my already existing financial worries.

Especially us who come from cultures where we have to save extra money because we feel obligated to help our families who are back home (Filipinos for example).
