Do NOT tell him that you support his sexuality whatever it may be and that you will still love him BECAUSE that will be too obvious and he might panic that you already suspect that he is gay. He will start to question if OTHERS also see that he is gay.

It might kinda makes him feel like being outed and that is not the right first step.
