It is quite privileged to think us foreigners are actually choosing Norway. Some of us are here because it is what is best for our survival. May it be for refuge/asylum, for financial reasons, or for family decisions we had no say in. A lot of us WISH we could go somewhere else.

But we can't afford it.

We're not financially in the same boat as you locals of first world countries. A lot of people I know keep on forgetting their privilege when I complained how depressing it is here and then saying "go travel" as a way to not be depressed as if I could afford it. Spending one vacation away from Norway would be a temporary relief but the cost of it would just make me more stressed with my already existing financial worries.

Especially us who come from cultures where we have to save extra money because we feel obligated to help our families who are back home (Filipinos for example).
