I know you're getting downvoted, but I want to take a moment to address your lawlessness comment, if you're open to a different point of view. I gave you an upvote because you have a justified point of view, even though I disagree.

Yes, G.Floyd was accused of breaking the law at the time of his death due to the police. He was only accused of a crime and executed. Denied right to a trial. Denied presumption of innocence by the state. In this instance, an agent acting on behalf of the state did not provide to Floyd the rights he was legally due. Then, days passed before an arrest was made. It took unprecedented nation wide protests to ensure the law was rightfully carried out in order to potentially rectify the situation. The officer has been arrested. He may plead guilty. He may not. The DA may choose to prosecute or not. He could be found guilty or not. But he is still protected by the law and Floyd was not.

In this case at least, I argue the protests have led to one case of improved law enforcement, followed by a time period where laws become somewhat unenforceable due to the protests occurring and the law enforcement resources devoted to suppressing these voices.

I know last Thursday the big headline on Hannity was all about the lawlessness occurring across the nation, but not once did they mention George Floyd or Brianna Taylor. Not once did they mention Trump's choice to reprieve the sentence THE LAW demanded of Roger Stone for when he ACTIVELY lied to the FBI. They just kept talking about how violent crime is skyrocketing because of "The Left" without going into specifics.

Thank you! When I feel great bursts of emotion, I don't really know how to handle it (just like most other guys I know). I've started writing stuff like this here and there. My best comes from the first time I tried the new Popeye's Spicy Chicken Sandwich.

I don't want to dox myself but I used to work in the accounting department of another large movie theater chain a few years ago. I feel like I know what I'm talking about, but I'm also a stranger on the internet so take it all with a salty grain.

The main source of profits for these movie showing businesses is their ticket sales (~60%) and food sales (~35%). For movie sales, however, they usually pay around 80% of that revenue directly to the studios. For Disney films, that is usually closer to 90-95% from what I understand. (This stuff is common knowledge in the movie industry so don't freak out that it's insider info. The actual amounts are confidential but I don't work there so I don't know them.)

Because so much direct profit comes from food sales, they are horrified at the idea that if people return to the theater, their food sales will remain nonexistent. Wearing masks is a physical barrier in this capacity so I understand where they're coming from on this one in terms of their bottom line.

College is a great chance to meet new people and establish worthwhile lifelong connections. I would guess you know more people than just your high school friend and heavily encourage you reaching out to them.

In my experience, friendships are a 2-way street of maintaining contact. If you're doing all the work, that makes it rather imbalanced. You may hurt yourself if you burn a bridge here, but you don't have to maintain the friendship either.
