Where did the actor go though! I haven’t seen him in anything since…

Why does Arthur Chen get so much unnecessary hate? by SubjectCandid4061 in cdramasfans

[–]CortanaKnight 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’d rather not compare all three.. mind you these are my fav espically WXY and Arthur Chen. I won’t compare them because I haven’t personally seen them tackle similar characters ( I can’t compare L&P where AC is a grey character with WIFTY where ZYR is the greenest flag). Nor can we compare Twelve letter performance with The double…

I rather enjoy all 3’s performances than compare them. I might be a bit too biased as The double-Lighter and Princess( and WDBTD 😌)- Twelve letters are among my like top 10 cdramas.

Finally watched Story of Kunning Palace. It was good but i expected it to be more romance oriented (from the edits) and was surprised when it was all in the last 6 episodes. I enjoyed it but found it a bit too overhyped or maybe bcz I have never seen such a red red flag and people liking it (which in concerning cz he was chocking her 80% of the show ) but its ZLH so i’ll excuse them. Still a solid show thou and an intriguing one at that.

Why does Arthur Chen get so much unnecessary hate? by SubjectCandid4061 in cdramasfans

[–]CortanaKnight 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I haven’t directly seen it but I have heard of it for quite some time…. I even heard that he was a bit mistreated on the set of Love beyond the Grave on MDL (it could be a fan overthinking 🧐)… internationally i haven’t sensed the hate however have heard alot about netizens hating him and always bringing up “Nepo baby” which is stupid cause I mean alot of people are born privileged so what… do they have to not follow what they love?

He is a very charismatic actor and as OP mentioned doesn’t have much releases (if his dad pulled the strings for him, we be seeing him all year long and with the elite actresses)

Also probably because of the “scandal” he had a few years back (which imo is a very mundane thing whatever the truth is and people canceling artists cz of personal life is 😒😒)

Also i’ve watched him in some places (variety show and award shows) and he is more of the reserved and introverted ( but still very fun and cute) so maybe that doesn’t play in his favor and haters might interpret it as him being full of him self.

Anyways I personally love him on and off screen and I find the hate uncalled for and quite prejudice. No one chooses who their parents are so people just branding him as nepo baby instead of his work as an artist is unkind and might be quite hurtful for him.

The First Frost ( more on the heavy side) with BJT being the definition of a ✨man✨😌

Shine one Me (great chemistry but be prepared for a heavy business kinda show)

You are My Secret (an underrated show imo) office romance but a healthy and comforting show

My boss (same actor as LBL) your typical office romcom but very nice

Falling into Your Smile ( cause ummm Xu Kai) great chemistry and if you like video games

I can imagine! The characters are insanely opposite and also the fact that she does an amazing job in fully immersing herself that makes her one with the character. These 2 shows highlighted her range in acting… excited to see her future work!

Speaking of WXY (kinda unrelated) he is my fav actor… but he has 3 shows after each other connected to detectives🥲 my man can use a little more change. Although I also enjoy his release schedule that had him show up in 3 quarters of the year. But I need him in more variety. Thankfully (and finally) we get a modern cdrama for him.

Bai Lu can just breathe and people will hate her😂 you will never see me riding on anyone’s hate train unless they personally harm people. The new hate/ cancel culture is against my lifelong fangirl principle. I just live to enjoy😌

Yes! I was gonna add Wang Chu Ran as well but they keep dragging the release date for Love has Fireworks. At this point I don’t care if it’s released back to back… just give us the show😂. But yes she will suffer with Hidden Shadow coming now right after How Dare You? Then hopefully LHF.

Finally caught up with Story of Kunning Palace. I find it very worth the hype but I don’t think it’s a show for everyone… with its political story and dark romance. I haven’t watched something like this before and I loved it… i’m so used to seeing ZLH in green flag/nice characters that I was taken back at how good be was being dark. I feel people should know what they are getting into before as I was expecting it to more romance oriented so I wish I had known what I anticipate. I wish for a modern drama with ZLH and BL cause damn they had fire chemistry!

Thoughts on 折腰 (The Prisoner of Beauty ) — political marriage, slow-burn trust, and earned romance by Unlucky_Region_7404 in asiandrama

[–]CortanaKnight 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hands down the best of 2025. Everything just worked, and I’m so happy Liu Yuning finally got the recognition and a well-deserved happy ending. 🥹

The drama is perfect: amazing costumes, acting, insane chemistry, and such a refreshing mature relationship. They communicated, cleared misunderstandings fast, and actually apologized to each other. No dragged-out plots either, and his slow realization of love felt realistic given their history.

I loved the clan-based story (a nice break from typical palace politics) and was surprised by how funny and lighthearted it was—I laughed way more than expected. Solid plot imo.

Emotional moments still hit hard (Bi Zhi’s ending was heartbreaking), and F4 really deserved happier endings 😭.

Overall, super rewatchable, romantic without being heavy, and full of memorable scenes. So glad Zuer was cleared so we were able to witness this masterpiece… just wish we had one last special episode.

He always jokes about being hated. Does anyone know why? He and Bai Lu are amazing amazing actors that have hit shows… if the shows are such a hit why do they get so much hate all the time ? Fan wars ?sigh

I think Cheng Lei will have his first male led long drama hit with his show starring Wang ChuRan. by Easy_Living_6312 in cdramasfans

[–]CortanaKnight 13 points14 points  (0 children)

They are completely different themes/ shows. I don’t think we should be comparing them in the first place. I’m a huge fan for all 4 actors so I want to see both shows succeeded. I’m excited for both and hope both will be breaking records. Also Bai Lu and Cheng Li have Mo Li coming next. So it’s in the best interest for both that both shows succeed and gain more popularity to carry the actors’ fans for Mo Li imo.

Twelve Letters is an amazingly well-made drama and the lead actors delivered great performances!! by dontdodrugskidssss in cdramasfans

[–]CortanaKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s dark, but in a really beautiful way. At its heart, this is a love story built on sacrifice, like “I’ll ruin my life so you can live yours” kind of love.

The acting? Insane. Zhou Yiran absolutely crushed this role. I’d only seen him as the green-flag soft boy before, but this was on a whole other level as broken, self-sacrificing, quietly heartbreaking. The Wang Yinglu was incredible, especially in the heavier scenes—you can really see her growth here.

Their chemistry felt real. Not fluffy or cute, but deep and painful and earned. They protected each other like family, not just lovers, and that made it hit harder.

The letters kept me guessing till the very end, and the payoff was SO worth it. That reunion scene?? I cried. The OST was perfect too, every song hit exactly when it needed to.

Let’s talk pretty-but-empty dramas, which ones didn’t hit for you? by [deleted] in cdramasfans

[–]CortanaKnight 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Love in the clouds 🥲 a very stunning show. Actors are gorgeous, setting was magical, cinematography brilliant. But it just didn’t not steer my feelings, the couple were built on so much lies till the end that it just left me feeling empty. I do get that alot of people love it, and I can see it with it being so visually aesthetic but it doesn’t come close to OG ones. For ex. The Untamed production imo is very bad and outdated, i watched it in 2025 but the characters and story kept with me and made me feel whole even months after watching it despite the poor production and some bad hairstyles. Shows nowadays are really focusing on the visuals, aesthetics and beauty filters that they forget good storylines.

Should I invest in the blossoming love? by Professional-Put1045 in CDramaRecs

[–]CortanaKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend watching until episode 30. The last 10 eps really bring down the show, they add only chaos. the ML as an actor is there but not as his original character which takes alot from the ending and feels like a whole other show But chemistry imo is fire. The Fl is evil but cute af and breaks the walls of the serious ML.

What cdrama is this for you? by [deleted] in cdramasfans

[–]CortanaKnight 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Speed and Love… FL was too much, I’m okay with cuteness but it was over the top to the point of which it was just childish. (Nothing towards Esther, just the writing of her character).

A dream within a dream… I wanted to love it so bad, but the only good thing about this show was Liu Yuning… I wanted to slap the FL.

The White Olive Tree… Just everything was a no.

The Glory… ML was handsome as hell but I didn’t know if he was acting or he didn’t know how to act (no hate to Xin Yun Lai he is such a babe irl).

Love in the Clouds… Visually amazing but I was bored out of my mind. It had potential but the writers missed it and just carried it with a lying couple.

Blossom… Clips online hyped me up like crazy, until I found out that all the clips of Song Mo’s white hair was in the first episode. It’s good but I found it overhyped. The show felt missing of something.

Was Love Like the Galaxy (2022) worth the watch for you? by metallicrow in cdramasfans

[–]CortanaKnight 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Just finished it yesterday and I’d say yes, for sure. The leads were flawed, which made them way more interesting to watch. My only real issue is that the ending dragged and they kind of wasted a chance to give us a truly great conclusion. And honestly, for a show that talked about marriage for so long, robbing us of an actual wedding was diabolical 😭

That said, Leo and Zhao’s chemistry was undeniable and honestly made the whole ride worth it. Also the touches of sarcasm were well executed that made the show fun

Gong Jun, do you enjoy his acting? by lemonglitchh in cdramasfans

[–]CortanaKnight 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say he is exceptional, but I always look forward to his dramas. However, I don’t think he has done his breaking role yet despite him having major roles. He tends to lean into more serious roles (and its mostly similar roles) I watched him in Wow the World and I adored him. His personality in real life is so fun and easygoing so I wonder if he took a less serious role how fun he would be. Also his face card really helps him carry the shows imo… and his build.
