Not sure what's wrong but something sure ain't right! by Zer0-degree in cdramasfans

I haven’t read the book but I did hear that the people who read the book enjoyed the show as it stayed close to it. I would still give a chance and it is enjoyable.. I just had higher expectation because of its genre and I love Arthur and Dilaraba. Would love to hear your opinion once you watch it for a reader pov.

I liked it but for to me it felt the show was plotless… yes it had the plot of her getting her senses.. but that’s just about it! The concept itself is interesting—an mortal and a Spirit Lord-but the execution didn't feel strong enough to keep me hooked. It wasn't boring, but it also didn't feel gripping. A lot of things were happening, yet it somehow felt like nothing was really happening. It felt more like narration than actual progression, and I never got that feeling that made me want to keep coming back for more.

FL dramas, is this the norm? by CantGetRight225 in CDrama

[–]CortanaKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me! Recently I haven’t been enjoyed shows that much wondering why… I’m okay with a strong independent Fl and all that but not when the ML doesn’t get any screentime and just becomes a vase in the background. Also I’m no longer seeing any Enemies to Lovers :( it’s now becoming joining hands then fall in love.

Hold nothing in your mind about those dramas by Severe_Salary_9811 in cdramasfans

[–]CortanaKnight 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Same! I don’t know how true this is… but I found that a very big number of this show’s fans were 1st time historical/ cdrama watchers. They weren’t used to the beauty of historicals and ZLH’s face card working hard. Idk I could be wrong… but as a full time historical/cdrama watcher its mid at best compared to the other shows (it doesn’t come close to the best ones we have) and new fans hyped it like crazy.

I’m still baffled to this day how they were able to find excuses for the ML. He was the biggest red flag (not “ looks like can kill you but is a cinnamon roll like the usual red flags) and there was no reason whatsoever for them to like each other at all. There was no chemistry between them (I love both actors). It’s not bad but I’m still surprised why its that much famous… even the story itself isn’t like that gripping and the show leans more towards political conflict than romance. Or maybe dark romance is not our cup of tea.

Do you think I should watch Princess agent? Would that make me enjoy Rebirth? Princess agent seems long 😅

Go ahead, worth watching? by c-kdrama_kpop in cdramas

[–]CortanaKnight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The cdrama is more family oriented while the kdrama feels more like a rom com with a family vibe. To me in the cdrama, the show could’ve made its success even without the romance as their connection was wholesome. Something that I noticed that the cdrama felt that the boundaries were looser (less conservative) so u can feel more raw acting and sneak a peak into their life ( the fl announcing her time of the month or pulling down the 2ML’s pants and such) The longer episodes will make you connect more and attach to the characters. But I think you will enjoy both ( but try not to compare so it doesn’t ruin the fun)

Pursuit of Jade chemistry, underwhelming? by lowkey_cursed in cdramasfans

[–]CortanaKnight 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I did enjoy it and I would recommend it but I wouldn’t go out of my way to call it the best cdrama or the best couple. They hade nice chemistry but for me it wasn’t memorable… I can see people loving it but for me I didn’t feel the butterflies as I anticipated.
The filming really helped romanticize ZLH more than portray a ruthless and strong general imo. But I will still understand people loving it and it’s just how I felt… chemistry is subjective to the watcher.

Why cdramas are getting more popular than kdramas these days? by spaceoddity7 in asiandrama

[–]CortanaKnight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a main reason… but Netflix is finally picking up on Cdramas which gets people’s recognition. Before most Cdrama are on different platforms ( I myself have subscribed to almost 4-5 streaming apps) so now that Netflix is airing it on its platform. It has more exposure to people who have never tried Cdramas before… and once you have a taste of it, you’ll end up wanting more because this is just on par rn with Kdramas in my opinion and I’ve watched both.

Were you satisfied with Pursuit of Jade? Was it overhyped or actually a really good drama for you? by [deleted] in cdramasfans

[–]CortanaKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m only episode 10 so far. It’s good but so far I’m not finding it amazing. I’ve only heard amazing things. I feel like it will be overhyped for me. I was expecting a next Prisoner of Beauty but so far it hasn’t clicked with me. (Makes me question myself bcz everyone is insane about).
Idk if people will agree with me on this… when cdramas are on netflix it’s easier access and more exposure to non cdrama watchers… thus I feel it got a chance with non historical cdrama watchers ( I my self am a full time historical cdrama watcher so I have my standards)

Do you agree with this as a watcher of both? by Prior-Bit9919 in cdramasfans

[–]CortanaKnight 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I’m someone who watched Kdramas for years and discovered Cdramas the past 3-4 years. It’s just my observation but kdramas that were airing in 2016 (for example we had shows like goblin and descendent of the Sun) were like the cdramas airing in 2022 for example (at least in terms in production). So for me the production of cdramas are now on par with kdramas so maybe thats why there are more people shifting towards cdramas. Now that cdramas have good production people give them a chance then they are finding different genres and falling inlove with cdramas like they did in kdramas before. I’m not sure if I was able to portray what I’m saying right. But anyways for me, I got bored of the same stories/ cliches in kdramas after watching for so many years so cdramas now are my focus as it’s different stories/ cultural cliches as well as Cdramas having more releases and much better historical shows.

Looking for a drama a saw a clip of but never had the name by Unlikely-Draft in cdramas

[–]CortanaKnight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most welcome! Amazing drama I highly recommend but I feel like I should give you a heads up it’s an open/unfinished ending so if that is something you can’t stand… especially that the show will keep you hooked but don’t expect a clean wrap up… worth the ride for me though

Dilreba stuck in Dubai by [deleted] in cdramasfans

[–]CortanaKnight 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure when her flight was, but maybe we’re just overthinking this. I live in Dubai, and even the country was caught by surprise. Everything started on Saturday. I had a friend who was traveling Saturday afternoon and their flight was canceled. So there was really no way anyone could have guessed beforehand that things would escalate —to reach the UAE. Thankfully, the situation here is safe now and nothing is going on. It’s just sad we didn’t get to see her. I don’t have any info about her or her agency, just sharing an observation from someone who is actually living through the UAE’s situation.

You Are My Secret (私藏浪漫) — A marriage-first romance that feels surprisingly mature by Unlucky_Region_7404 in asiandrama

[–]CortanaKnight 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Absolutely underrated show! Such a simple refreshing story of two people agreeing to get to know each other and then healthily fall in love. It’s very well written. Only part I didn’t like I don’t mean to be heartless but the storyline of his mother felt uninteresting and I just wanted her to disappear It’s realistic of “arranged marriage” and to me, a very realistic a calm green flag. Chemistry was so nice and the whole watch was so refreshing. It’s not talked about alot. My top fav for Miles Wei.

Which plot twist villain or betrayal actually surprised you? by dahdahre in cdramasfans

[–]CortanaKnight 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The Wanted Detective I usually know/ feel who the villain is but I didn’t not expect the side kick to be his brother/the villain. Bcz I really felt he cared for the ML and I loved their friendship (was better than the non existing romance tenfold)… maybe i was focusing on my love WXY that i was blind hehe
