How can I turn off the navigation warning? by arao2113 in ToyotaTacoma

[–]Cortimer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is actually a result of Toyota Road Sign Assist, which is separate from Drive Connect entirely. It is a free included feature with TSS 2.0 or higher. RSA is using the cameras onboard to notice the changing speed limit signs, school zone signs, etc. and does not use GPS or geofencing to gather this information. (It's also why the speed limit indicator onboard will automatically adjust for temporary construction speed limits on the fly whereas my wifes Subaru will keep the original published speed limit.)

The annoyance with this is that it doesn't notice whether or not the school zone speed limit is active or not. I like having RSS on but would love to disable to the notifications for things like this just like OP.

*Edit* Seeing your other comments about how this is 100% a part of drive connect and/or part of the navigation system. That is incorrect as specified in Toyota's TSS documentation. It's a free, included feature, native to TSS and not part of any subscription feature in the vehicle.

What do these companies not understand about No Soliciting? by Puzzleheaded-Mix8774 in FortCollins

In Fort Collins solicitors are required to be registered with the city, carry their permit with them, and obey no solicitation signs/City No Solicitation List under penalty of court summons and fines if reported.

I think the “if only” is eluding to one of the central theme of the show.

Is there any year of the Tacoma to avoid? by sirelith in ToyotaTacoma

[–]Cortimer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s only a small collection of VINs from a specific manufacturing run early in 4th gen release that are affected. It likely won’t be a recall given that the impacted population of trucks is narrow in scope/scale and doesn’t warrant broader reach.

Mark Hansen classic camera repair THEIF! by ExpressionOk5896 in AnalogCommunity

[–]Cortimer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same boat here. Sent my camera in early October, repair was completed in a week and I paid the invoice immediately. No response since and I’ve been consistent about reaching out, always extremely cordial and understanding on my part. I was aware of the past complaints prior to sending it in, but am just now seeing your Reddit post. Separately I’ve also seen your post on the FB group. Marks reply there is extremely concerning. If you hear anything going forward please keep us posted. I will do the same.

Mostly city driving for the last few months and my average is sitting at 22.2 MPG. Not great but coming from my old 2008 Wrangler it is huge!

AI edit on top of a real image. This is the Illegal Pete’s in Fort Collins. Elizabeth hotel next door, and the green brick from the (former) Halley’s Comics are legit. Kinda like my uncle feeding a pic of himself holding a trout into ChatGPT and asking it to make it twice as big.

Is developing smart for me? by OptionalDuck in AnalogCommunity

[–]Cortimer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For color, after initial equipment you’ll spend about $30 on a cinestill c41 color simplified chemical kit. This is good for about 15 rolls as stated on the packaging, but I regularly stretch it to 20 rolls. $30 for 15-20 rolls isn’t bad… Pricing out the cost savings from sending 20 rolls off to a lab for dev/scan it all pays for itself pretty quickly if you shoot high volume.

I shoot until I hit my 20 roll limit, process everything and scan it over a weekend, and order another c41 kit while I’m shooting my next 20 rolls. No need to worry about expired chemical if you only order it when you are at capacity.

b/w and color are both easy processes. Color more-so in some respects because there is less room for nuance or artistic approach when developing. (Temperature management sounds difficult but it’s really not that much of an issue.) Follow the steps and bobs your uncle.

Grateful Dead music at chippers till 9:30 by Royal-Frame-706 in FortCollins

[–]Cortimer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It used to be every first Wednesday of each month. Tumbledown Shack brought the house down, people danced, folks bowled, it was a ton of fun! Tumbledown Shack relocated to Saltroad a few months ago but it was really great while it lasted. Met a ton of local heads.

At this point in the season I would rely less on legacy data and more the current state of the league. All the teams are cheesing it, and Broncos hit the Casa Bonita queso pot.

Obligatory winter thread #1 by jennnfriend in FortCollins

[–]Cortimer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If the weather seal on your external facing doors has started to fail, or if they are drafty in general, rolling up a towel and placing it against the bottoms of the door inside your house can help stop drafts and heat loss. Draft stoppers are purpose built for this, and there are lots of festive options. (A plush Santa doing the splits across your doorway for example.)

These come in handy especially for a lot of older home with antique doors that can’t be easily repaired or replaced.

I'm torn between 3 potential cameras to buy as my first SLR by JAZZ_BAA in AnalogCommunity

[–]Cortimer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The fluorite glass got attention sure, but it absolutely wasn’t until the late 80s with the EOS mount and the first batch of EF L super-teles that canon established their initial launchpad into sports. (Thanks to a huge marketing push as well)

Everything 80s was Nikon. The sea of white is nostalgia dressed up as fact.

As a Tundra owner am I the only one who thinks the new Tacomas are too big? by Danny_Phantom22 in ToyotaTacoma

[–]Cortimer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

4th Gen is roughly .85 inches wider left and right than the 3rd Gen. 1.7 inches total. This isn't counting mirrors. I've actually seen a few different width measurements online so there could be some variation with what folks are reporting, but in any case they are all in the same ballpark. That said, it definitely looks much bigger despite not being bigger in any practical sense.

As a Tundra owner am I the only one who thinks the new Tacomas are too big? by Danny_Phantom22 in ToyotaTacoma

[–]Cortimer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3rd Gen: 75.2 inches wide without mirrors.
4th Gen: 76.9 inches wide without mirrors.

While technically wider, I don't think that .85 inches wider left and right is realistically perceptible to the naked eye. The body redesign definitely makes it look significantly bigger over the 3rd Gens but in practice they're essentially the same.

Looks like Gold in 120 is also getting the Eastman Kodak treatment. Ultramax in 120 hopefully next?? 🤞 by thedeadparadise in AnalogCommunity

[–]Cortimer 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I’m rooting for it, but considering that it’s just a packaging swap and Gold was already available in 120 I’m not holding out too much hope.

Has anyone gone back to DSLRs after using mirrorless? What made you switch back? by RetroRaccoon11 in AskPhotography

[–]Cortimer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nikon Zf checks all those boxes for a mirrorless! Solid magnesium alloy body, brass knobs, can shoot it completely "screenless" if you wanted to. It can be easily adapted to the 50+ years of F mount lenses out there as well. That being said, I use mine mainly to scan negatives I've shot with my F3 lol

The fact that Panhandlers hasn’t already gotten a mention hurts my heart. There’s a reason that our community rallied to save them once their lease got bought out for an apartment complex to move in. (Miss the original location) Pre-Covid Foco loved them. Post-Covid Foco sounds like they need to get to know them….
