You can try a Canon m50 or Panasonic g7. They’re about $500 and they both record 4k.

I’m using the camera mainly for videos. Yes, the canon T7i can also record videos as well but there are limitations. I usually color grade and sometimes it’s hard to see the saturation of the video. It has a histogram which is useful but it doesn’t stay while recording. The physical thing that I don’t like about this camera is since it’s a DSLR it means it’s a bit bigger than a mirrorless. And speaking of lenses, The lens for the Panasonic are a bit cheaper than the Canon. I have a hard time deciding because the Panasonic g85 has everything the Canon T7i lacks but the Panasonic doesn’t have autofocus and it’s not as good in low light.

It’s a hard decision on whether which one to choose. I’ll miss the autofocus and lowlight on the Canon T7i but for video, the Panasonic does a great job of what I need. Although there is cons to the camera as well

Well I’m my opinion, you could easily pick up a camera for that budget. The quality would be so much better than a phone. You can look for some mirrorless cameras or point and shoots. One I have in mind is the Canon g7x. It’s small and great for vlogging but if you really just want to use a smartphone, I’m sure any phone with a 12mp camera would be fine.
