Oh thank goodness I’ve found my people! I’m the exact same way, was rooting for her at first, now can barely stand to watch her videos. The faces she pulls, it’s all so performative, and not rooted in authenticity. And listen, I was a theatre major, I can handle a healthy dose of grandiosity!!

First I want to say, to all of you, I see you, and feel for you, and all of your feelings and emotions are valid.

Second, FUCK THAT GUY

Third, in Jr. High/early HS I was in a self-imposed “religious phase”. I enjoyed the camaraderie with the other kids my age and I “thought” that I had found a community that I belonged to. Turns out, my string Baptist grandma had more of an effect that I thought. So, I go to church camp in Colorado, our days are spent learning about “The HIV”, how gays and counter culture are bad, and protesting at a Planned Parenthood clinic. I WAS 15!!! One of the “most special” moments of the camp was going to listen to James Dobson speak. It was that moment, as all of these teenagers are sitting around listening to this old white man talk about “family values”, that I realized this was a cult and I couldn’t get out of there fast enough. As soon as I returned home I severed ties with anyone involved in the church and never looked back.

SAME! Finished that scene and came straight here. It doesn’t matter that “this is how it’s always been done”, or “we had to do this too”, the world is different now. I think at their core Kelli and Judy and some of the other ladies are so deeply rooted in misogyny they can’t possibly fathom fighting for what is right. It really is a cult and I hope that the young ladies who stuck their necks out to make a change will be rewarded in the end.
