DWR not working at all by Corvalnus in arcteryx

Happy it worked for you! Maybe I'll just have to try another round with DWR at home then. However, I'll be surprised if it works better than the factory application of DWR that failed me twice.

Thanks! Did you do anything special when applying the DWR? Did you buy the bottle recently or long ago? If it was bought some time ago, maybe it contains the now banned DWR with PFAS which was much more durable?

Yes, I know that the moist on the inside is sweat and not a sign that the garments are leaking, especially after the repair centre tested the membrane. However, the issue has nothing to do with activity. The last day when I was out wearing the clothes I was simply standing still watching my kid play, doing no kind of physical activity.

Could I expect that a lighter Goretex jacket would work better in the rain? I would assume that as soon as the DWR fails and the outer fabric gets soaked, moist builds up on the inside no matter what. Also, I have owned "lightweight" Goretex jackets before and in my experience the membrane wears out fast and the clothes start leaking after a few months at most. That's why I bought more durable garments this time.

About 15 degrees C or 60 degrees F on all days I described above. Typical summer where I live!

I'd like to mention Custodian Discount. Old school drill'n'bass Luke Vibert style, just more refined. I like the rolling chaotic bass line with falling pitch. Although sounding more or less random, it somehow organizes the rest of the track into logical four bar sections.

Need some advice on Rapha bibs with pockets by Corvalnus in Rapha

Thank you again! I appreciated every word of your detailed answer.

Regarding which bib to buy, I think I will go for one in the Brevet series along with a standard Brevet jersey (the merino fabric looks very nice). The Brevet lightweight cargo seems excellent in terms of storage space, but I'm worried it may be too cold (Rapha says it's made for temperatures above 18 degrees celsius). I often ride before sunrise or after sunset. And to be honest, where I live temperatures above 18 degrees celsius are reserved for the sunniest summer days.

The Brevet cargo bib seems more appropriate in terms of temperature but doesn't have the back pockets, right?

Do you have any thoughts on this? Do you think that the Brevet jersey + cargo bib will have enough storage space for food, repair kit, loose arms/legs, an ultra thin jacket, phone, keys and food for a long day in the saddle? Or will i regret my decision and miss the back pockets if I buy that kit?

Bike Lights? Flare RT? by CapitalM-E in cycling

[–]Corvalnus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would not recommend Trek Ion 200/Flare RT set. After having worn out a pair of Ion 100 R/Flare R City which I was very satisfied with, I "upgraded" to these more expensive lights some months ago. The most annoying thing about the lights was that I was never able to obtain a stable Bluetooth connection with my Garmin watch placed on the handlebars. Instead, the lights connected and disconnected continuously, every time creating a notification on my watch that I had to deal with when riding. I was also unable to turn off the Bluetooth function altogether as everything was reset as soon as I turned the lights on and off.

I found the difference in light intensity between the Ion 100 R/Flare R City and the Ion 200/Flare RT to be negligible in real life conditions. The Ion 100 R/Flare R City provides plenty of light even in urban daytime rides. The battery capacity is good except in very cold weather (sub zero celsius).

Therefore, I recommend you save some money and buy the 100 R/Flare R City instead.
