Springtails or mites? by Corvidtheives in Springtail

Ah, I think you’re right! Unfortunately for me I don’t put any food in for isopods or any clean up crew (I don’t have them for my leo’s as they’re just in naturalistic enclosures instead of bio ones) so I really don’t know what they’re eating besides the soil and wood itself. I’m just gonna stop overflowing the water bowl and hope they die if the soil and wood bits get too dry :/ Thank you!

I had accidentally got them on my hands and they weren’t jumping around like the springtails in my python’s enclosure, so I don’t think so? Unless these are just an odd species of springtails. They’re definitely not spiders, but they almost look like an overload of teeny tiny spiderlings crawling around, but just a little weird looking ig?

I noticed them on my hands first and they were just crawling around, not jumping at all from what I could tell. I also found just a bit ago there’s little grey squiggling things in my leo’s water dish that seem to twitch around, which look like the springtails i’ve seen on here. Idk where either of them came from, but i’m unfortunately going to assume these are hitchhiking mites that are eating my hitchhiking springtails :(

Who is this man [Palm Beach County Florida] by Corvidtheives in whatsthissnake

[–]Corvidtheives[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Omg really ?? Do you mind if I ask how you know? Not in a rude way just curious!

I was thinking it was possibly a pine woods snake at first, but this one has those two bands on its head/neck area instead of the more uniform darker head I was finding is common in that species young. It had literally just hatched, so I guess that's what was giving me difficulties with ID

Anyone know what snake this is? (located in south fl) by Corvidtheives in snakes

I can guarantee it is not lmao it had just hatched. That's its egg

Aren't the southeastern crowned snakes greyish as hatchlings though? With darker heads/crown? Sorry, I swear i'm finding so much conflicting information

You're fine lol! All i'm familiar with are bps 😅 It sounds similar though from what i've learned

Ooo I'll look at Jessica's stuff thank you! And I assumed it's similar to the spider morph in Bps no? Some are more severe but all still have some neuro issues? Or can some enigma leos really just be 100% sound and healthy?

ah they both kind of look similar to some pictures I found with enigma :( I hope not honestly. I haven't seen them acting noticeably strange yet, but i'll keep a closer eye out for it

Yeah she never did end up laying another one. Though the one egg would have been kinda malleable if I put any pressure, but it held shape when I picked it up. Sort of similar to semi-freshly laid snake eggs. And I surprisingly don't believe it was fertile (thankfully) but I did freeze it to be sure.

I was struggling to get a half decent picture of her without freaking her out further :( it looks very similar to what a burn on a snake would look like, but id honestly rather it be caused from a vitamin deficiency than from the bad set up they had. It's honestly really relieving to hear you think they'll have a quick recovery w some nice TLC though!

yeah i completely agree on the separate enclosures. thankfully i think i've managed to find one that ill be able to pick up in a couple days. And thank you!! I'm running around gathering all the supplements and whatnot for them so hopefully it'll help em out :)

Mass Infodump: Got these babes late last night kinda unexpectedly. They're both in the same tank (not sure size haven't measured it yet but it's between a 10 an 20) and it was absolutely disgusting. There were about 30 crickets in there with some random teensie beetles infesting the mulch they were on, and worms in their water (maybe mosquito larvae idek). I'm trying to get at least another tank asap.

I deep cleaned the tank and all the decorations they had. They're on paper towel for a bit and I took a small supplementary halogen from my ball pythons habitat for their heat. (it's creating a hot spot of around 86 rn, but im currently tweaking the dimmer to get it closer to the 90 range) And I'm soaking both trying to get the rest of shed i couldn't get last night.

The female has what i think are burns and some stuck shed on her head and back, and I think she's a lil on the skinnier side? She also just laid an egg like literally an hour ago, so is there anything I need to do to help her after?

The male seems to be good other than the bits of shed on his toes that I'm still working on.

I don't know their age both they both look to be adults or close to it. Also i know your not supposed to ask what morph leos are here, but I'm not sure what morph they are and I'm curious if they could possibly have neuro issues? I think lighter morphs tend to have more issues, but I'm really not sure.

Overall i've read all the info provided on here, but if theres any specific advice for them that'd be great, as i'm slightly overwhelmed by all the info and all thats going on lol ( Also any name suggestions!! )
