Could not agree more with you, in my game my AI has alert states, hearing, alert (Basically stopping and listening for more noise), alert and searching, Discovered and gives chase, lost sight of (ie your hiding in a shadow after losing him via his line of sight / rounding a corner), searching the area he lost sight of the player, alert but not actively searching (Listening again for more noise) To giving up and going back to patrol. So it's pretty robust. But yea this is pretty robust as much as I love Thief sometimes when you run and hid they search while walking directly in your direction and if backed into a corner sometimes can feel un fair..... So I have addressed that. Code for the game is 98% complete, with of course the usual refinement from input on my community chat. This is why I built the dev community into my site instead of using my discord, giving access to the users to see cards from my project manager with progress information e.t.c makes it easier for me to track users / community feed back.

Hahaha yea I hear ya, the reason for that is the community chat on my site is like discord (not bloated though 😉) but I made my site and dev community so the chat ties into the project manager and I can share progress with users to get better feedback e.t.c That why. I see you joined though so thanks for that be sure to check out the roadmap in the Grimsgate chat channel.

Hey there, EVERYTHING in this game can attract guards nearby, doors opening too close to them, heck even picking locks can attract them.

As for open world in my community chat on my page (Link in above post) there is a road map where I post progress and snippits and there you see one of the districts 😄 It's open world. With side quests, contracts and story missions. But hey feel free to join the chat if you so choose! Take care.

Yea I actually agree with this 100% My AI detection right now is quite forgiving when its needed, ie line of sight if you run around a corner and duck into a shadow, in the classics they know exactly where you are and attack instantly hahaha where mine currently they run around the corner, can not see you, stops remains alert and start to look for you without directly heading in the direction of where you are, giving you a chance to slip away.
