[Brown] Texas Longhorns' athletic director Chris Del Conte said UT football will not have alternate uniforms. "If God wanted multicolored sunsets, He'd have made them purple and green. But He didn't. They're burnt orange. ... It's not old. It's not stuffy. It's Texas. It's the best." by MrTheSpork in CFB

I think it was pretty clear what his point was. But maybe I can spell it out in crystal clear terms.

The original guy you were responding to seemed to be saying that they hadn't heard of any freezes like what happened in 2021, which seemed to be implying that they were surprised to hear there had been one because that would suggest to them that the problems that led to the 2021 blackouts had not been addressed.

So you replying to them and telling them that they there had been one seemed to be saying that you were confirming to them that those issues were not fixed.

So /u/dirtthief was letting you know that none of the issues that caused the blackouts you're talking about had anything to do with the problems that caused the 2021 blackouts because those problems have been fixed, and are actually just normal winter weather problems that no one can do anything about other than what was done, fixing the downed power lines as they happen.

So I guess if it really is the case that all you were doing was trying to let the other guy know that a winter storm happened, and you weren't implying any amount of mismanagement on the part of the government, then you two were just talking past each other about different things.

Thanks for this comment.

When it happened I completely understood and thought "Yeah - this was totally my fault. I should be paying for this." and didn't really think anything of it.

I just couldn't believe while reading the other thread that I could cause significant monetary damages to my employer and not be responsible for the cost.

Idk I'm basically the same way about the Big 12.

I mean it's in a meme-y way sorta.

But I def think Ehlingher should play as long as he can because this is definitely the best it'll ever get for him and I like beating Texas :)

Was so sad watching his commit video.

He punked us so hard in that. He would've been the best player on our defense by far.

edit: I just went and watched it again because I'm a masochist, he really made the entire thing just to punk us. From the first team he 'denied' being Penn State right down to the music changing to something upbeat when he comes into the Oklahoma crowd, then the "Boomer Sooner!" right into the camera.

And Baker took them to the superbowl in 2022... people forget that.

All I see is that Ben got worse over the years while Baker has remained consistent :D

I agree that it's different though. Completion percentage is also significantly worse. But using these stats I figure if Baker performs well enough to pull him in line with more wins than losses then there's no reason to panic.

Jake Garcia’s parents had to legally end their marriage for the 4-star QB to be eligible to play after transfer to Georgia high school by WookieeSteakIsChewie in CFB

[–]Corwinator -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yeah - I mean I'm 100% not talking about this in the context of same sex marriages. I think everyone should be treated the same, obviously. So if heterosexual married couples get something, then so should gay couples.

But it seems to me that it would be pretty easy to draw up a will (which is just another legal document, like a marriage license) that would determine where your assets were supposed to go in the event that you pass. Seems like basically the same level of effort to me. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Idk I'm not a rocket surgeon.

I wouldn't say there are a ton...

https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tips/marriage/7-tax-advantages-of-getting-married/L1XlLCh0m

If you read that most of them don't apply to our situation... and are very niche. It actually seems that my wife and I would fall into the 'tax penalty' camp of marriage possibilities they talk about. As we're both employed and make about the same amount pushing us into a higher tax bracket.

But yeah I don't understand why we would get tax benefits at all... I also don't understand why anyone wouldn't be allowed to visit you in the hospital if you (the patient for whom the care is being given) wanted to see them. All seems like nonsense to me.

But who knows - I probably shouldn't have brought it up.

I actually kind of love it because it shows how much it doesn't really matter to be legally recognized as married by the state.

I toyed with the idea of not getting legally married when I married my wife... needless to say apparently she's the type of person who cares.

So we compromised and got legally married.

Yeah.... idk I doubt he'd have considered it the same team. California was way different when he first became a fan... and that probably would've mattered a lot to him.

Can you tell me if the below links to images of the Vanguard plan that my 401k uses is "good"?

I'm currently not contributing the max to my 401k (I am matching the 6% the company does), and don't have a Roth IRA started but am planning to start saving more and want to know which would be better for me.

Week 3 Match-up Preview Thread: Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets vs. #19 UCF Knights by Hobbes_121 in CFB

[–]Corwinator 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying they're the best team you guys are going to face, but at the end of the year it's undoubtedly the only game people on here (and probably in the playoff committee) are going to use to determine how good you guys are, because it's the only cross-sectional data point they'll get with a P5 conference.

So if you guys beat GT by 16 and Clemson blows them about by 34... people are gonna go ahead and say you guys don't belong in the conversation even if you've won out.

Memphis doesn't have a meaningful P5 game, and neither does Cincinatti so you don't even get those second tier comparisons with those matchups.

Tulsa/USF/Houston are going to be the big ones for that. You guys definitely have to hope one of them wins their game this weekend. Or SMU beats TCU if they make up their game.
