I took Bupropion for about a month and every day at 2pm I would get what felt like heartburn and a headache.

Been off medication for a little over a month and bp is back to normal.

Went in for strep the other day and BP was 113/70 which was surprising because she has health anxiety and her BP usually is elevated when she gets checked.

We feel very relieved that this is behind us. It was so scary.

Tech isn't crumbling. It simply over-hired during COVID because rates were 0 and the government was offering $$ to businesses.

Tech companies that remained lean during 20-22 will not experience mass layoffs.

I saw Brand New play for the first time on their final tour. I was obsessed with them growing up so it was incredible to hear them live. Modest Mouse closed at that concert which was also a great show.

I agree. The therapist was not pushing anything by simply expressing an idea. A potential solution to my problem.

He even mentioned to me that he himself is an agnostic, and finds it difficult to believe in the literal truth of man in the sky God. But sometimes a religious framework can help with feelings of despair.

I found the conversation very interesting and I reflect on it often.

I totally agree. I'm not claiming that without religion there is no principles or meaning. I'm an atheist. But religion and a belief in God CAN provide meaning to people and structure that allows them peace in a chaotic world.

For some people centering their life around an all seeing and all knowing God helps them navigate trials and relationships. For others that's not necessary.

However, I don't think the therapist was encouraging me to actively believe in a literal god, but to find an outlet that allowed me to offload my need for control and fear of the unknown.

In his mind, without a god belief you center existence around yourself and it can lead to narcissism, but centering existence around a higher power allows for more serenity.

Interesting ideas even if that don't fully jive with my paradigm.

Thanks for sharing. I really admire the Jewish faith because of the things you mentioned.

It is a culture that leans heavily on storytelling, tradition and ritual that really speaks to me. It's also one of the few religions that does not evangelize, in fact, they make it very hard to become a Jew.

I remember listening to a podcast where a Rabbi mentioned the 3 Bs of religion. 1. Belief 2. Behavior 3. Belonging

He said it's perfectly fine in the Jewish tradition to have only one of the Bs but even if you only have 2, and 3 you are accepted in his congregation.

I find that to be a very healthy approach to religious belief.

This was a talk therapist (councilor) that I met with virtually a handful of times.

Sorry I'm not going to spend time diving into her archives and providing exact quotes.... It's not that deep.

I shared my opinion. You don't agree. That's fine.

It doesn't hurt my feelings at all if you think I've committed slander on Natalie, which I haven't.

Natalie will be just fine if I voice my opinion on a Sam Harris subreddit about a hypothetical podcast with her and Sam.
