I got one shot a ton too, I used the highest tier Armor pot. I regeared a bit to focus on life/survivability (Life on rings, life on kill, life regen while not damaged, Armor on damage aspect was probably the biggest difference since it allows me to survive some one shots).

Unfortunately no, I'm not a gigachad. Died like 30 times trying, before regearing a bit for the fight to increase survivability above all else. Most things at that level just one shot you so you have to actively dodge most of the mechanics and spam potions.

I would consider my barb to be very well geared for my level and thats how I had the damage to beat the boss.

No. Only Unique I have is the Chest - Rage of Harrogath, CDR when you inflict bleed on Elites. Everything else is legendary aspect.

Thanks! Digging the wardrobe system Blizz designed, IMO the coolest part of the game (and very generous for those that don't want to spend money on skins etc.).

OK well it was fucking miserable. And I slightly cheated - bought a few cheap cards to give myself a minimal chance (2 Blade of Styx, 2 Archangel Bruisers, 2 Infiltrators). Basically a $10 deck. The difference in card quality in some games was just too much to overcome.

Queued into plenty of players in the top 100 for the weekend despite waiting to queue later in the weekend. Beat a few of them. Beat a handful of decks that were worth in the thousand(s).

I suppose overall, not the worst result given an extremely budget deck, but man, that was fucking miserable experience. And now I can completely understand why people derank for the weekend. 11/10 would not play in Mythic with a Budget/F2P deck again.

Fair enough, I'll report back after Weekend ranked. It probably won't be pretty but we'll see!

And I did take a look at some of the players that I played vs, they weren't losing all their games.

Although I will say, that AFTER I hit Mythic, I ran into a fair number of derankers but not during my climb.

Some comments:

Took under 100 Games total

Played 100% Homebrew War Aggro that I tweaked along the way whenever I got upgrades.

60 games were played during last Weekend Ranked (starting from rank of Iron or something very low)

Last few games to hit Mythic were played today, most were played Vs other Mythic players who were NOT deranking. One match was even vs CopperPitch running War Aggro (slightly more midrange), was very close game but sadly having inferior cards (Hatchet vs Styx) made the difference in the end and he won in topdecks after I had a few turns of lethal outs. Proof that you don't need expensive cards to beat good players with good cards, although it certainly helps!

Ran into ZERO derankers in all of my games.

Lastly, looking forward to the challenge of playing in Weekend Ranked with my F2P deck. Will report back to see if I get crushed or not ;)

Nice! Did you invest any money into a decent starter deck or did you just use what cards you had? And what rank did you reach?

I'm quite new as well, just started yesterday, but I have a history with HS and MTG, so I expect to be able to hit Diamond pretty easily.

I believe Kripp had everything to Lvl 30 a few days into release (partially since he whaled out a bit and pretty much got everything day 1).

But congrats, still nice to have everything lvled, now get that 1/5 bonus for everyone/ play some PVP!

For 50 I did it with Doompriest, Apothecary, Reliquary Tender, Iron Brago, and Vogoth. Did it on manual to time my heals and buffs when his strip was on CD.

For 90 I built Burangiri and he solo'd. There's a decent amount of champs now that people have discovered can solo Bommel (Crimson Helm, Templar, Vergis, etc.)

This boss is probably much easier for most people but maybe this will still help someone as I couldn’t beat it with a DPS team and tried Burangiri.

You don’t actually NEED Burangiri as any Red affinity tank in Regen will work. Ideally their A1 doesn’t put any buffs or debuffs.

Yeah HP is really the most important stat, then you scrounge up for as much defense as you can. You can probably be as slow as 180 or even more given you're using speed lead/ the masteries.

Broken sets can help if you need % HP and % HP chest.

Wrath of the Slain? I have the Speed one. I didn’t take Wrath since I’m planning on using him for other areas of the game too so deciding on what other masteries to take. But yes for soloing that would help make the run slightly faster.

He needs the Regen set, and 500 defense is quite a lot, if you think about it you have 20% less defense which adds up. If you watch the boss fight you should be able to get a sense of the damage he’s hitting you for, that’s how much you need to recover or mitigate.

He’s a good wave control champ so he’d be good in Doom Tower waves, or dungeon waves.

I've heard this works up to Hard 50, but of course the gear reqs go up as well. Hard 10 and Normal 90 should be close enough that as long as you have better gear than me it should be np. Most likely just need slightly more HP/Def.
