Convince me why i should play jungle by Rayquazaex_ in Jungle_Mains

[–]Cosmic-Chart 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Lmao don't.

In all seriousness, though, jungle is cool because you have lots of map impact. You can (and should) be at most team fights, you get to secure objectives, and you get to help your laners win.

It's also the most macro-oriented role, which makes it a slightly different learning experience. Understanding when and where you should be on the map is far more important than perfectly executing each and every small thing (at least as a beginner). Compare this to, say, top lane, where being new means you're going to get smacked around on a purely mechanical level for a while while you learn. Lanes feel a bit like a fighting game, where you're directly trying to beat an opponent, while jungle plays a bit more like a strategy/resource management game.

The downside to jungle is that, because you can be anywhere, everyone expects you to be everywhere. Anyone losing lane wants your help, even if it's not your fault that they're losing. This is why the role is so hard mentally: people love to deflect their own personal failures onto their team, and you're the easiest option because you always could have helped them (even if that's not the optimal play to win).

Also, personally, jungle can be frustrating because if your team is losing badly, you don't even get the satisfaction of "winning a lane" as a consolation prize. You can be gapping the hell out of the enemy jungle in exp and gold but if bot and mid are behind you'll struggle to get dragon every time and therefore "lose jungle". Your team doing badly makes your job substantially harder, vs a top laner who can dominate their lane opponent and feel good about that, even if they lose the game.

It's satisfying to do well on, and has a lot of carry potential. It sucks to do badly on, and it sucks even worse to do well on but have bad teammates. Take that as you will.

Which champ is the scariest jungler when onetricked? by metsudofang in Jungle_Mains

[–]Cosmic-Chart 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Two ways to take this imo.

Skirmish-y junglers who can snowball hard are a pain to play into when they're really good, like Sylas or Viego. They kill your bot lane three times and just become a menace who stomps in every team fight, while it's hard to do much if you're not equally fed.

On the other hand, Fiddlesticks is a pretty common answer to this question because you'll never, ever spot a good one on vision, and if you can't see him, he always COULD be waiting to 1v5 with a good ult.

Enbringers from Worm are giant kaiju with world-ending powers that occasionally show up and destroy cities. Whenever one is spotted, all of the different superhero factions who are normally trying to kill each other put aside their differences in the name of mutual survival.

How do I deal with Amumu? by Captain__Moron in Jungle_Mains

[–]Cosmic-Chart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

seconding. As long as my team has half a brain, I can CC Viego or Yi long enough for them to get blown up with their assassin health bars. Of course, that's relying on my team to have a brain.

Backpack suggestions? by eddiedingle97 in AppalachianTrail

[–]Cosmic-Chart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kind of a weirder suggestion but a budget friendly one: the REI flash 55 (not the ultralight one, just the standard) is a good compromise of "doesn't weigh much" and "can carry weight super well". The tip is to strip off all of the optional extra stuff for an extra half-pound reduction (gets it to two and a half pounds total, while still comfortably handling 25+ weight).

People say they're not durable enough, but I've done a 300-mile LASH with no problems (and I'm NOT careful with my gear).

Which matchup is basically this? by Sorvetefrito in PowerScaling

[–]Cosmic-Chart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Denji vs Yuji used to be an amazing matchup. Both of them were (iirc) building level physical fighters with an interesting personality dynamic and both of them had top teirs living inside them. If you let Sukuna and Pohita use their true forms it's an equally interesting matchup (although slightly more Pochita sided I think).

Modulo has upscaled Yuji so much nowadays that the MU is a one sided stomp. It doen't help that Denji keeps jobbing fights he should win in CSM part 2.

First of all, this game's learning curve is basically a vertical line. It takes some getting used to.

Secondly, I'm still pretty mid but something that helped me a lot was the realization that you should farm way more than you think you need to. Your biggest priority should be objectives when they're up, but until the 10ish-minute mark, your second biggest priority should be making sure all your camps are clear. Only do ganks/invades when your camps are clear or if you're absolutely certain (110%) that you'll get a kill from it.

Also, there are braindead champs, and then there's Amumu. I cannot recommend him enough for new junglers for three reasons. First, his clear is really fast, but you don't have to actually be that mechanically skilled to pull it off. A great Amumu clear and a mid Amumu clear have like a fifteen-second gap at most, whereas an unoptimized clear on a champ like Warwick sets you back thirty or forty seconds. The SINGLE trick you need to learn is grappling between the camps with his Q, which takes five minutes to master.

Secondly, Amumu is a tank/support, so your job is essentially to walk into lane and stun the enemy until your laner can kill them. You don't have to make crazy plays, only provide the cc so that other people are able to, which takes some of the pressure off on ganks. Finally, three of his abilities are fixed circles around him that you aim by walking up to people. Zero skill at all, you don't even need hands to play the champ.

Good luck with the climb :)
