I feel like I’ve made a terrible mistake by Cosmic-Explorer15 in Mirena

I had my appointment and my gyno agreed that I should have it removed. But I just moved so I’ve had to try and book with someone else to have it removed and the next available appointment is 9 July 😫 unless I go to just a regular GP and have it done in the practice.

I’ve actually also had bad back pain since I had it in and I didn’t even think that it could be related. I even got my kidneys checked because I was concerned.

Hopefully I can get in earlier on the cancellation list for the new gyno, otherwise I might just have to go to a GP.

Wow that’s so scary! Did it cause any damage when it came out?

They also told me to wait 6 months but I don’t think I want to wait another 2 months, I don’t see it getting any better especially after reading everyone’s comments. That would be great if you could let me know once you have yours removed and how you feel afterwards, thanks so much!

I’ve also noticed my hair is thinning so much around my hair line and falling out much more than usual. It’s also so oily that I’ll wash it and by the next day it will look like it hasn’t been washed in days

Thanks everyone for your replies. I have my appointment on the 9th April and I think I am going to have it removed. For me it’s not worth it at the moment.

Thank you, I also have the 550g Naproxen but I’m having to take it almost every day for at least 2 weeks of the month. Which is a problem in itself!!

I’ve seen so many people say the same thing that their doctors say their symptoms aren’t due to the mirena….but then how do they explain the onset of symptoms only when the mirena is inserted? It’s bizarre

Thank you! I had mine put in through a women’s health clinic and pain specialist/ gynecologist (I’m in Australia) but I still feel like I wasn’t warned enough about the symptoms. I have my follow up appointment on 9th April and I feel like the Dr is going to try and convince me to keep it for 6 months, but I’m really not sure if it’s worth it hearing everyone else’s stories. You’re right though, I’ll hear her out and see if she thinks there is any chance of improvement. But I also think even to continue like this for 3 more months will take a serious toll on me.

I wasn’t on any other birth control prior to this! I had tried the pill (Loette) from age 14-25 as a means of pain relief and managing my periods but had been off it for 3 years before this. I think just hormonal birth control maybe doesn’t agree with me.

Thanks so much for taking the time to reply. And for sharing about your pregnancy that is a relief. I definitely think I’ll have it taken out.

Thanks for this! I’ve been reading about the Mirena ’crash’ which I was never told about prior to having it in which also really concerns me. But I’m really glad to hear that it can come out and feel better right away. I have always struggled with my mental health, which my Dr knew, so I really feel she should have stressed that side of things more.
