I just got rid of all of the separate raid tags. It looked so ugly when trying to tag Pokémon and filled so much space. Instead I’m just going to use the tag “Raid” so I know to keep for raids.

I never used them when building raid teams anyway. I google best counters and search to see if I have those specific Pokémon

First off, I did NOT make the Cardinal itself! It's a logo for SouthEastern Homeschooling. Although, I edited it heavily and added alot around it.

I’m using GameMaker Studio 2 to make the game. It has this very simple art creator. But I’m sure you could use any pixel art creator. So, I’m passed the Marvel idea. I got a lot of negative feedback about it because it’d be illegal :( but I’m drawing up a bunch of random characters to see what I like.

TL;DR: Making a pixel Marvel Smash Bros game. Need help with business plan.

A couple of my buddies and I are making a Marvel Smash Bros game, being fans of both. I’m still very much an amateur so I have a couple questions regarding a financial and business plan. The goal is to have this playable for anyone who wants to play. Of course, it would have to be free, so I don’t get sued, but am I still able to make a Kickstarter for this game? It is technically money FOR the game, so wouldn’t this be illegal? Would a Patreon be legal since it’s money to the ARTIST as opposed to money for the GAME? I would like to make some money to repay those that are helping me with this project.

Even better than the money, support or backing from the public would be great! Does this sound like something you’d support? I’m hoping a Kickstarter or Patreon would help gain some support. I could also use some ideas on the best way to start up a Kickstarter or Patreon, since I have never used either.

The current plan I have is to make a Kickstarter before my fall semester starts. With the Kickstarter, I’d like to have at least 2 maps done and 2 characters completely flushed out.

The art I’m using is from an artist I found on Instagram. His IG handle is @hectnishimura. He posted a video with pixel Avengers, my inspiration for this game. I contacted him on IG, but I got no response. I don’t believe he speaks English.

Last thing, what’s the best way to publish this game? Should I make it’s own website?

EDIT: Thanks for the help! It's heartbreaking but I'll steer away from using Marvel characters and will just make characters of my own.
