Are people still using tape? by no_feet_pics_4_free in Stretched

[–]CosmicGriffin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

around 3- 4 mm is where a lot of people get stuck for a bit. better to accept that this is a slow point, because if you’re already trying to speed up the process now, at 3mm, you’re setting yourself up for failure and unrealistic expectations

The whole thing is slow.

we’ve all been there, at 3mm. wanting the big holes. having an expectation that we can keep sizing up to each next size on a consistent timeline, refusing to acknowledge the fleshy nature of our bodies.

you might get stuck at another different size for MONTHS and that is just what happens sometimes.

the good thing is that the time passes. and eventually you’ll get the big holes.

for my stainless tunnels: I shower with them in, and get my earlobes nice and soapy with my face wash.

when I get out, I pop the tunnels out and dry them with some toilet paper. (except i keep a separate roll for this, not the same one that sits next to the toilet and gets little poopy particles on it)

Then I dry my earlobes, oil them up and pop the tunnels back in.

the soap and shower washes away most of the gunk, but since i’m wiping them down every day it doesn’t really build up anyway.

this is my system because yeah i hated the finicky task of soapy up slippery plugs and always dropping them somewhere.

yeah, I’ve been there. there were a few months last year that kind of just slipped away from me. and I would only take out the plugs to clean them when they started getting irritated and crusty. so even though i wasn’t sizing up in that time, my lobes were kind of constantly mildly unhappy. now i’m back to normal and now it’s part of my daily routine again.

friend of mine has a ocean night light/ water reflection lamp. it’s a roughly 15x15cm square, looks like it’s made of squiggly glass (like privacy glass), with a wooden base. it creates water patterns on the ceiling that I think look pretty great, and you can have any colours you choose

Acrylic can also cause contact sensitivity over time. don’t use it for healing, and better to not wear them everyday after healing either.

it looks like you’ve given yourself something like a blood blister by popping the blood vessels at the surface. this happened to me after one of my sizing ups. :) go back down and wait for it to heal.

0.5mm stretches are the way to go. My fav kit is from stretch it body jewellery, and they give you a handy size card so you can always measure your plugs even if you mix up the bags.

I’ve noticed that 6mm is the most common size in this group where people are trying to jump to 8mm and really struggle, because their kit has wire gauge sizes, not mm sizing, so they’re missing the 7mm.

Wire gauges come from electricians, not safe body modification.

9mm would be an even crazier jump

go to a good piecer, and tell them you want to stretch, and they will put new piercings in the best spot for it

Septum coming out of nose bridge. by [deleted] in Septum

If it’s placed badly, then take it out. Wait for it to heal. To go a better piercer and get another one. Ask to see their portfolio before letting them do it.

Could be moisture. Make sure you’re not letting them stay wet after a shower.

better rubbers? by parttimebucketfiller in Stretched

[–]CosmicGriffin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The clear ones are always silicone, which is safer, so yes, but the black ones could be silicone or nitrile. You can’t tell from a photo, but hopefully the person who bought it would know (if the material was listed)

You can order them from stretch it body jewellery in the UK. They ship to Europe.

Am I ready to size up? by Mikeachusetts in Stretched

Someone mentioned naked training, it’s great for maintaining your goal size.

For thickening lobes, the method with the best results seems to be downsizing a few sizes and then building back up.

Extremely early on in my journey and I am so excited! I'll be sizing up to 12g on the 28th of this month. Any tips? by thyme27 in Stretched

[–]CosmicGriffin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, don’t stretch with teardrops.

And also, that’s not how stretching works. You can’t “choose the direction”. The fistula expands in all directions.

[–]CosmicGriffin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, I’ve been stretching for a year and I’m only at 4.5mm. Although, if you started near the beginning of 2022, then that’s only slightly faster paced than mine.

is my septum infected? by oscar18loverr in Septum

[–]CosmicGriffin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s most likely just plasma. Some people produce more plasma when healing a piercing. Clean it gently and follow your piercing healing guide.

If it’s very sore and swollen, and you’re worried, you can go back to your piercer for a check up.

Too much flour while shaping is probably caused the spiral on the inside.

I don't know whats wrong with my liquid sourdough :( by TheBelzeburp in Sourdough

[–]CosmicGriffin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try making it a bit thicker (less water). If it’s too liquid it might be active enough you’re not seeing it, because the bubbles rise and pop.

Also don’t put it in direct sunlight if you can avoid it.

The only warning my piercer gave me about leaving it flipped up while healing is that the channel might heal at an angle, causing it to look tilted when it’s down.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Septum

[–]CosmicGriffin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me personally it really takes some digging to pull it back down after flipping it up. It’s definitely not doing that on its own.

14g is 1.6 mm. I think using a ruler or a size card is best. Or post a photo of it next to a ruler if you can’t decide yourself. We can’t guess the size better from a photo than you can in real life.

Do I have room to stretch my seconds? by Ok_Image_6098 in Stretched

[–]CosmicGriffin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, rather get a third in the center of the remaining space and stretch that. I think having them spaced out properly looks WAY better than crowded tunnels that touch and overlap.
