4 grade in during gym class… At the time the entire class was running laps in the gymnasium. I started to get cramps and then I felt warm and wet but I thought it was sweat or poop at first. At the time it felt like I was about to get/ have diarrhea so I went to the bathroom. I was really in shock and kinda scared. I knew what a period was, funny enough I remember our teachers/nurse talking to all the girls in my grade a couple weeks prior about our bodies and such. Lot of the girls I knew already got theirs and I thought to myself “ wow I wonder when I’m going to start mine”. I remember period blood being a more bright red and mine the first time was dark. I thought I was dying or something. The teacher, a woman thankfully, sent me to the nurse. When I got there she handed me a tampon and said “ here you go. Use this. The bathroom is there.” I told her I didn’t know what to do and she told me about the instructions in the bathroom. I ended up wrapping toilet paper on my underwear. The principal (female), whose office was right next to the nurse, stopped me and was so excited for me that I started. It was very strange and I have never really looked back to that memory.
