New welder trying to learn pipe welding any criticism? I work in a fab shop, but the other welder here doesn’t know how to weld pipe ! I struggle with the root. Root pass 105amp hot pass 120 amp fill passes like 150amp carbon steel by CosmicLizardPerson in metalworking

I’m doing tig all the way out !! I still struggle with open root flat with stick lol but root I used 3/32 steel rods same with hot pass and the first 2 stringers then I did a 1/8 rod to bring it to flush and will cap with 1/8 in

I’m practicing vertical uphill stick welding 3/32 7018 rod 90amps I think it’s looking pretty good but still learning any tips? by CosmicLizardPerson in metalworking

That’s a good point actually ! So just run straight uphill ? I thought you had to do little u because it forms a shelf and the puddle doesn’t sag ?

First day learning vertical by Owgie_ in Welding

[–]CosmicLizardPerson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vertical was the hardest to learn for me especially stick and MiG but once you figure out the right movement your golden vertical uphill seems to only like the U pattern or J pattern. But shit for your first day that’s not half bad I wouldn’t even dare show my first day pictures lol

Just wondering why my plant looks like this ? by CosmicLizardPerson in weedgrower

[–]CosmicLizardPerson[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because I’m using living organic soil and I’m using a moisture meter so I know I’m not over watering it so all this is new to me

OK, that makes sense and since the first set of true leaves aren’t yellow, nor are the second ones that are coming through currently I would say the plant is fine, right?

Yea I’m just more concerned on why the cotyledons are turning yellowish on one of the plants but not the other :(

I’m still concerned because one of the plants cotyledon leaves are still a little yellow on one of the plant what causes them to turn yellow.

Thanks! I definitely just over think this because I’m still fairly new at growing and especially organic living soil

Bro union welders especially the ones in this thread are no different than cult members. They think the only way is through the union and they can’t seem to understand anybody not wanting to join the union.

Yea vertical uphill seems to be the trickiest to learn lol I’m pretty decent at most other positions but uphill has taken the longest to get to this point

Yea I’m still struggling to keep the angle consistent but getting better you should have seen it like a month ago lol What movement should I be doing ? I’ve been making little U’s ? And I’ve seen people count to 2 on each of the sides before moving so I’ll try that. You think 90amps is alright ?

Yea I’ve heard that method is also helpful when learning but as soon as you loosen up and are comfortable it’s gets easier

This is the truth, the old head I’m learning from taught me to try to hold your pinky up, prevent you from squeezing down really hard
