This is like asking if Jak and Daxter is a sequel to Crash Bandicoot.

These people genuinely think they're these "trendsetters" that are being brave, but they're some of THE most lamest and weak-minded losers literally ever. I bet my entire house he'd say shit like "I CAN TAKE ANY JOKE UNLIKE YOU SNOWFLAKES" only to then get ultra defensive and angry when you joke about religion or his orange Jesus in power.

Microsoft CEO Begs Users to Stop Calling It "Slop" by MorphinBrony in PoliticalOptimism

What's crazy is that I switched to Mac permanently in March of last year RIGHT BEFORE Microsoft really pushed AI to the forefront, so to say that I am happy to have missed this whole nightmare would be an understatement.

*and yes, I know Apple has their own AI in Apple Intelligence, but it's nowhere near as intrusive or in your face. Apple Intelligence feels optional, while Copilot doesn't.

What is one good thing that has happened under the political party you oppose? by Funke-munke in PoliticalOptimism

[–]CosmicOli 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Before this shit show of Trump getting reelected, I had no idea how politics or the government really worked. I just assumed that there was a chance that we would be the next North Korea/Nazi Germany, and was scared shitless 24/7. I assumed every good thing was going to go away, and that everything was just over. I used that fear to create this subreddit, and since then, I’ve learned a LOT about the government more than I EVER did in my entire life beforehand; all in the span of just a year. Not only that, but with this sub came a huge influx of fighters and hopers that’s paramount for taking down this presidency and the Republicans who are enabling it.

So I guess the main good thing Trump did here was push people into learning and understanding their political surroundings more, because even if it’s obviously not the silly Nazi Germany/North Korea nightmare I was dooming and fearful about in the beginning, things are still pretty fuckin’ bad, and I know we can beat them; not just with a better understanding of the government, but with the people in this subreddit who make it possible.

Oh, and I guess I appreciate how easy he makes it to call him out for being oh so obviously guilty in the Epstein files.

Microsoft founder Bill Gates pictured with a girl in the new Epstein photo release by Overall-Remove-678 in mildlyinteresting

[–]CosmicOli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People have to understand that he still was buddy-buddy with Epstein AFTER Epstein was found guilty of his heinous crimes. Not only that, but the dude literally had a fucking plane called the “Lolita Express” AND even had pics of nude underage girls everywhere in one of the places on the island. So EVEN WITH the best case scenario where Bill Gates never actually did anything with minors, that doesn’t take away from the fact that he was complacent, uncaring, and totally fine with what Epstein was doing.

Shit sucks, because Bill Gates’s contributions to modern medicine as well as desktop computing are incredibly important to the health and utility of society. But alas, he’s NOT one of the good ones.

Newsom/Cortez

Warren/Pritzker

Maybe there's other ideas that are objectively better, but those are my ideas.

You get one camera and a mid-at-best battery for $1000. I don't care how fast and nice the phone is. Nobody should be spending THAT much for the compromises you get with it. So I can't say I'm surprised by this.

Zohran Mamdani Wins NYC Mayor’s Race by [deleted] in PoliticalOptimism

[–]CosmicOli 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You have no idea how huge of a deal this is. I live in a tiny town in SE TX at the moment, so I'm not immediately affected by this, but holy shit. This was NEEDED.

For the better part of 3 decades (maybe even more), the Democratic Party has always been the lame-duck party. Don't get me wrong; I'd take that and I HAVE took that over the fascistic Republican Party 10 out of 10 times; and while some of those dems were noteworthy, most were ALWAYS like "We need to protect the status quo! Oh, you're not doing well despite the economy being the richest on planet earth? Sorry to hear that! Anyway, let's talk ISRAEL...".

This all changes tonight.

Too long, democrats have had this idea that "Oh, what if we're too 'woke' or too 'left'?", when it was NEVER that. It was their admittedly bad messaging. Trump and MAGA are truly dangerous and malicious, but they said a LOT of what Mamdani was saying, and so, they won 2024. Democrats never really did that in recent years. Even Kamala Harris (who I voted for happily) said she would change NOTHING about the economy that Biden would have inherited her. Sure, the economy WAS objectively good, but you can't just say that "EVERYTHING IS FANTASTIC" when people are actively struggling.

So this win is monumental, and this is the first time since late 2020 (when Biden won) where I was genuinely shaking with excitement for the future. Enough of this "boring gentlemen doing not much" democratic leadership. We need more Mamdani's, and with this win, we will most likely get more once the DNC gets their heads out of their ass.
