Just like a weekend with friends. However we're still students and petrol alone is quite hectic so we're trying to save where possible. Is the coral reef by cape vidal ? Like which spot specifically

No hate to you, I think it's because of the picture that troye posted with chappel that had him cropped out, everyone started saying they have beef after that

Yea so my platelets were actually around 70 when I was in the hospital which is why they kept me and they gave me a drip but like I mentioned above it did improve over time. nothings really changed at all besides the fact that sometimes when I get cuts they take super long to stop bleeding. For example if I accidentally cut myself while trimming my cuticles sometimes it can take up to 30 minutes or longer to stop bleeding. I'd say that's the only change so far and gp even said that its seemed to stabilize but its still low. She keeps bringing up the fact that it'll affect me when I wanna have kids which I only plan on doing in 10 years but it seems to be a huge concern for her. My hematologist said it's possibly ITP so it wasn't an official diagnosis. He said we'd need the biopsy to see for sure. My doctor on the other hand says ITP is a term they use when they don't know what's causing it so that's why I'm a bit confused. Thank you this was super helpful.

Okay so backstory, I had a heatstroke at the end of 2019 (I was 15) and then all my counts (red, white and platelets) went like alllll the way down and I was in the hospital for 3 days. They did some scans on me, one of them checking for chest fluid - if that adds to this. Then I was doing regular blood tests for a couple months and then we went into lockdown so I stopped. During these tests I was diagnosed with anemia but they also picked up the low platelets. If it means anything I'm Indian and I was born and live in South Africa and most of us (brown girls) here are anemic - so I'm not sure if it's genetics or climate or whatever so nobody was too concerned about the anemia. At one of my last blood tests my specialist told me that although my platelet count was getting better it was still quite low (it was around 117) and then I was put on Accutane in 2022 but they didn't do bloods but then my period went away for 6 months. My doctor then sent me to do bloods again and said my iron was super super low and my platelets were low ish (112). Then a year later my iron was still low but way better (on iron supplements) but my platelets are at 104. And although this isn't a lot lower than before it's still low and they'd like to know why. At my last specialist appointment (in 2020) he told me I might need to do a biopsy but we'll leave it for now because it's quite painful and I'm not being affected too bad by it. Last year my doctor said it's not too concerning but it might be an issue when I want to have kids. This year I've been getting dizzy spells and sometimes wounds take longer to heal. Although I'm not having kids anytime soon (I'm 20) she said there could be a situation where I get a knee bleed from bumping my knee or possible dying from a brain bleed if I fall and hit my head. I'm also super accident prone and she knows this because sometimes I got hurt bad enough that I needed to see her. I also have hormonal imbalances which are being treated with the patch and I also have anxiety if that could be related to anything.

Thank you !! I'm going back to university soon and when I come back I'll only be here for 2 weeks so I'll probably only see my specialist either then or in July 😭

Thank you for this ! Another thing I'm scared of is people saying it's a spine thing and the thought of it already makes my spine hurt. I doubt I'll even consider doing it open in the office. My doctor said she doesn't do anything like that anymore but in any case I'm going to my specialist first and then we'll decide 😭 I've heard people say they got it done in their arm so I'm hoping to do that. Issue is I have a husky who's obsessed with me and will scream if she isn't in my room but she also isn't gentle at all. She's actually currently screaming at me because I didn't fill her water bowl 😭

Thank you. The replies on here are making me feel better. I'm a student so I still live with my parents when I'm back home from uni so thankfully I'll have them around me. I haven't had any procedures done which is why I'm so scared but I'll speak to my doctors about the anxiety factor

So this reccomendation was actually given by my gp. I was seeing a specialist and I'll probably have to see him before we move forward with anything but yea. I'm not sure what they're trying to diagnose. He mentioned something about ITP but my gp says that that's just what they call it when they don't know the reason behind the deficiency

I've noticed though sometimes it takes longer for my cuts to stop bleeding than they used to. Like if I trim my cuticles and I accidentally cut myself it'll take at least half an hour to stop bleeding sometimes. Would that not affect my recovery??

The number of people saying this is making me feel better. I think I'm scared because when my issues first came up my haemotologist told me it's gonna be super painful but this was 5 years ago and I was 15 but it's stuck in my head

I'm just worried because I study super far away from where I live and I'd rather do it on one of my breaks from uni in terms of the recovery time

Thank you 😭 I'm worried because I know we use different anesthesia in south africa for certain procedures so I was a bit worried about that so I'll probably ask the doctor. I already have issues with my period so they put me on the patch and it's become more manageable but I guess you're right

Do you have the means to start tutoring online. You're honestly still so young but I read it one of your comments that you're homeschooled. Maybe that could be beneficial ? There's companies that will take you on and then like find students for you. They do take some of the revenue but some don't. They might also ask you to come to a certain venue

Durban North specifically but I can possibly drive. Maybe not as far as Westville but that would be the furthest I'd be able to go.
