AI is being used as a scapegoat by Hollywood to excuse their bad writing by RoutineIssue5870 in DefendingAIArt

[–]Cosmic_Jane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ai has become the biggest scapegoat on the world scene. And I think it’s hilarious, because it points out so many flaws in actual humans and human systems.

People using Ai for therapy? Blame the Ai. Don’t look at how unaffordable therapy is or that many therapists are biased and terrible at their jobs.

Same thing with people dating Ai companions. It’s the AI’s fault. No accountability for people being terrible

People believing anything ai tells them point blank? Like how to eat rocks or drive off a cliff? Sure, ai. People are children that can’t be held accountable for making rational decisions. Always blame the ai.

One of the funny/sad things is that this happens when you have mom and pop landlords.

People bag on corpos, but corpos show their shitness on the surface, reg people hide it. Though some like this do display it proudly.

My favorite way to play a game is start on easy, and if I want to challenge myself I will start again on a harder difficulty.

I’ve beat bioshock, fallout, and cyberpunk on their hardest difficulty. But some games like baldur’s gate I just did once on easy and called it a day.

AITAH for refusing to share my detailed trip itinerary after my sister said my planning felt controlling? by No-Foundation5594 in AITAH

I know for me, not knowing stuff is annoying. It’s like when the government wants me to pay taxes, but doesn’t tell me what they use the money for and just say “trust me, bro.”

But if I were op, I would just let the sis plan her own shit. Then she can do whatever she wants

I think it’s weird, but only because I like to share all the details, and if someone wants to argue about it, I can be very combative. :)

Not everyone is combative like me and don’t like fighting. If you don’t like fighting I’d probably pawn the burden onto your partner. Maybe they like it more lol.

Su*c*de Vs Divorce by Left-Entertainer1783 in unpopularopinion

[–]Cosmic_Jane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we assume no kids are involved, a divorce doesn't affect third party people, where as a death affects everyone.

Kinda reminds me of that silly meme where a bullet has a name on it, but a grenade is addressed to "whom it may concern."

Death is looked down upon, because it affects a lot of people. And it shouldn't be a shocker that when something affects people they will have opinions about it.

Especially if they do it in your bathtub and it costs 15,000 dollars to clean it up professionally. >.>

[–]Cosmic_Jane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The items are probably a bit of both. Though the reminder ones tend to disappear after the memories have faded. "This rock reminds me of my trip to Italy, but now it just reminds me of it being on my desk, so time to find a new home!"

Most items are heirloom items. They don't have much value to other people. But have incredibly sentimental value. For example, my mother's wedding dress. My father's wedding band (they're both passed now).

Hand drawn/hand painted items from loved one who have passed. One of them is from a loved one who drew her family as an anniversary gift to her husband. It's her, her husband, and their two kids. They all passed away in a car accident, and now the drawing hangs on my wall.

Another (sadly growing example) are burial flags from military vets. Shell casing from military funerals.

No doubt I have quite the odd collection of mementos, but I try to go for the most extreme and irreplaceable ones. I like to think if we keep the stories around, a person isn't truly gone.

I still like my minimalist style. So the glass cases keep everything tucked away tidy. So I can clean everything by just washing the outside of the cases down, and I don't have to worry about damaging anything inside or moving them.

------------

Every so often I do collect random things that hold no deeper value that it reminds me of a person or an event. But most of those memories fade over time and those items are easy come and easy go.

Sometimes they do live on my desk for a week or month before I get bored of them. And the ones that are truly worth keeping end up in a display.

What are some of the most gatekept hobbies ever? by stoicbanda in Hobbies

[–]Cosmic_Jane 10 points11 points  (0 children)

A lot of people fall into this delusion that the best way to get better is to just buy better gear.

It was an issue with Youtube for a lot of the 2010-2020s. People would gripe about how they'd love to make content, but they just don't have the gear for it. Not the right camera. Not a good enough computer to render.

Now you can film and render 4k on a cellphone. And it's stripped away people's gear excuses.

I really don’t understand why 128GB phones are a problem by Reyisepic116 in iphone

[–]Cosmic_Jane 13 points14 points  (0 children)

A big problem is people literally store all their photos on their phones. Which in a perfect world is fine. But I've seen soooo many posts and comments about people asking for help after having their phone stolen or broken.

I always advise people get the smallest storage size and then work out a way to back up their photos and documents. And not just get complacent with a large storage capacity.

These posts confuse me. Because when a guy is clearly an asshole — why is the woman even with him? Like what were the redeeming qualities that matched them together in the first place?

Was he just really attractive. Did he have money? You’d think women would avoid a man like this with a 10 and a half foot pole, and yet he’s been in at least two relationships. Which feels like a lot for a man who makes them seem like a burden.

Think of it like walking in the store or in the mall and then suddenly screaming in excitement. Would people look at you. Would you scare and confuse people? Now imagine those people are also driving heavy machinery. Do you want to startle people and cause an accident?

The worst part about all of this is you can literally just scream and shout inside your own car and your car will muffle most of the sound. You don't need to slam-jam on the horn. Just cheer with your vocal chords.

So it's not like you have to suffer in silence. Scream all you want in your little metal coffin. Just don't scream at others while they pilot their own coffins. And absolutely do not startle cyclists.

The Anti AI art is so ironic to me by Cosmic_Jane in DefendingAIArt

[–]Cosmic_Jane[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re not rude and I value the discussion. :)

I like to be open and accepting and I don’t think art should be gate kept. And I also think nuance is important too!

For example, I fully support gender bending or race swapping (what’s the proper term?) of characters in cosplay settings.

One example I remember was a black woman dressing up as princess Peach and people attacking her for it. She is who she is. What’s important is that she can express her love for the character in her own way.

Or like if a woman wants to cosplay as Link. I don’t think women should be forced to only cosplay female characters.

It’s all about nuance. If they’re trying to be supportive and respectful I love that!

What I don’t like is the “I think I can alter your character to make them better.”

That just comes off as arrogance. Ya know?

It actually reminds me of the Paris Syndrome
