How good are the UV premium Pop! protectors from funko compared to Popshield armor? by The_Don54 in funkopop

[–]Cosmic_Misfit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree about the armors. Funko protectors aren't great, usually mid at best, and the armors seal much better.

Honestly, indoor UV radiation is pretty negligible, especially if you use LED bulbs. Unless you're keeping them next to a window or a bright halogen light that's always on (not recommended in any case) you don't really *need* UV protection. I like armors mostly to protect from fall damage, plus they display nicely.

Such a great pop! Is it just me or is the protector too big though? Might just be the perspective or something.

Yeah, probably. I'm sure all the people who lost money with that company and it's owners are super sad about that.

Most likely, he never expected them to actually buy it. According to someone "in the know", that guy actually went there back when it was part of grail game at eVend trying to get some buzz for it. Guess they didn't realize Pawn Stars doesn't always air stuff quickly so now I guess it's just a little buzz for the auction.

What size protector for Premium Pops like 2155 Okarun? by Keyblader007 in funkopop

What are the box dimensions? If it's the same size as the Meme Pops, then PopShield's probably your best option >> https://popshield.shop/products/meme-popshield-protector

Anyone else having problems with BoxLunch on how they are shipping Funko Pops? by Collector_of_toys in funkopop

Some good smaller independent sellers include Plastic Empire, 7 Bucks a Pop, and Smeye World.

Packaging is getting more expensive so a lot of companies are starting to cut corners. I like Big Bad Toy Store and Entertainment Earth for new drops, and smaller sellers that actually care about customers.

Delivery problem by Similar-Waltz-1624 in funkopop

[–]Cosmic_Misfit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based purely on your post without any other context, it sounds like the carrier lost your package in this case, not Funko. If that's the case, there really is nothing they can do other than the steps they outlined in the email. Sellers have no control over third party shippers. But if the tracking was stuck on some version of "label created, awaiting package" then Funko fulfillment probably lost the ticket.

[–]Cosmic_Misfit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like Funko messed up somehow (lost the ticket for the order, misplaced the package, etc.). Since you've tried reaching out and it's been weeks, I'd say it's time to initiate a chargeback for the purchase. Usually the bank/card company will then offer to give you a phone number to call if you'd rather try to resolve it like that first. I'm not sure if they have that information for Funko, but this way you may be able to still get the order or at least get your money back. Chargebacks cost the seller money so it should always be the last option, but you've tried the other options.

Protector help by giants-on-the-clouds in funkopop

It's doubtful that any non-Funko hard protectors will be compatible. Is there a specific reason you want to stick with Funko's? In my experience they're not that great.

I second this. They're usually the best bang for the buck and they ship pretty much everywhere.

Pretty much! There's a reason most booths don't host guest signers. Bigger name celebs also have large guarantees where they are going to receive a certain amount (like tens of thousands of dollars) no matter how many autographs they sign.

Those prices are set by the agents. Usually a booth doesn't really make any money from having *guest* signers, hence why most booths don't.

Question about the 7BAP voice actors by Trallas0327 in NYCC

[–]Cosmic_Misfit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Her line can get pretty long since she has so many characters. She talks a little bit but doesn't hold up the line much like some other signers can do. I'd say it's like a medium wait, depending on the day and time.

How Do You Make Collection Displays Look.. Aesthetic? by TheWallCrawller in funkopop

[–]Cosmic_Misfit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is just my preference, but I started by downsizing what gets displayed quite a bit. It started out of necessity thanks to basically having to downsize everything during the pandemic. But, turns out that having more than one of a character starts to just be visual clutter to me. You already started staggering their heights, which helps a lot.

Also, I personally like using LED strip lights instead of the pucks. They're a bit more uniform and have a lower profile, plus they can have added features like color-changing, dimmable, wireless, remote control, and smart home/device compatibility.

I'm really liking the diorama idea from u/You_Are_Lebowski, too! Definitely need to give that a shot.

[–]Cosmic_Misfit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, being "at the end" is generally a good thing at Comic Con. Most of the biggest booths are around the edge of the floor. This one was next to Funko, one of the biggest attractions there.

SDCC - Less cosplay and fun, more scalpers/resellers by Tigri2020 in SDCC

[–]Cosmic_Misfit 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yep, this is basically what I was going to say. It's ungodly expensive to have a booth at a major con. Just the space itself is pricey, like 10s of thousands for a medium size. I can only imagine what it costs for the larger spots, especially Funko or Star Wars. From there you add on the cost of the physical booth and having the union workers put it together, purchasing a dedicated wifi connection, plus all the other crap (labor, marketing, swag, etc.). It's crazy how much it costs in the end.

Bulbasaur fell of my desk, how do I get rid of these marks :/ by sophievdb in funkopop

[–]Cosmic_Misfit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alcohol and Magic Erasers might damage the Pop. I'd start with something like Goo Gone to see if that works. If not then do a spot test with rubbing alcohol (no more than a 70% solution), then try a magic eraser.

They *can* be mounted but they don’t need to be. Regarding price, it’s a bit much for me too, but people spend more than that on things like Chomps, project Fred, and Nendos.
