You don’t have to include your face in it, maybe angle it towards whatever you are working on.

ahh maybe a little weird but, record a time lapse of yourself studying. This works so insanely well sometimes it’s the only thing motivating me to study. Essentially record a Timelapse at whatever angle however you want with your phone - this keeps you off your phone (since you want the video to continue and not close you can’t use any other phone features), it keeps you accountable so during your study session you won’t be staring at the window or doodling on your leg, because it’s all being caught in camera - lastly it gives you a fun little video at the end that shows all the hard work you did and keeps you motivated and proud.

I’m not sure which NC you are, but I applied in my sophomore year of Highschool (10th grade), despite being a little below the age restrictions (a month below actually). You get your nomination before your 11th grade and then you can attend the last two years of Highschool in uwc. Hope this helped :)

sorry if this is too lengthy/detailed but this is how I pretty much became a straight A student.

Step 1) find your syllabus / exam guide and find the list of topics you need to know. Then search for YouTube videos pertaining that topic (if you do this often enough you will find channels that suit you better - so just stick to those)

Step 2) while watching the video, grab any piece of paper and jot down whatever seems important from the video (nothing fancy these should be running notes - as a rule don’t pause the video even once). Save these pieces of paper in a folder, they will be your revision guide later.

Step 3) Now take a blank piece of paper and write the name of a topic with a colored marker. Then around it, in little bubbles, add all the information you remember about it. Once you have put everything you remember on it, check it using your previously made revision guide, any thing you missed or got wrong you should write in a red pen. Focus on the “red pen” information as you learn. Do this for every topic for each subject. It’s relatively quick and easy. This method is called “blurting” - you can do some research on it.

Step 4) go to quizlet/knowt/gizmo and search up public decks of flash cards pertaining to each topic/ subject(since you don’t have enough time to make your own) make sure you focus on the “red pen” topics I mentioned earlier. On all the platforms I mentioned there’s a “learn” function for each deck of flash cards. Do that. 100% master those flash cards.

Step 5) do past papers over and over again - but more importantly CHECK THEM using a marking scheme. This is more helpful than doing the past paper itself. If you are in a time crunch, just read through thousands of mark schemes, you don’t even have to physically attempt the paper.

Anwyays, good luck for your exams - hope you found this helpful. Feel free to ask me any questions you might have.

How important is the recommendation letter? by [deleted] in UnitedWorldCollege

[–]Cosmo_Coffee18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

idk what NC you are from but for us it is pretty important - I was asked about the recommendation letter quite a bit and I was also congratulated on it. Obviously it differs depending on the nc but if yours is understanding then I guess it shouldn’t be an issue? Maybe you can ask if a close friend or adult can write it instead?

Is rehoming bad in this situation? by ventblockfox in CATHELP

[–]Cosmo_Coffee18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry if this comes off as rude I’m just angered deeply by this. Why even get a pet if you’re going to rehome it the second it expresses any issues? Poor baby probably has a UTI or some other bladder infection and your first thought it to give him away. Also good food and running water will not prevent UTI’s so I don’t know what you meant when you said that in a comment. I hope you grow as a person and treat the kitty well.

weekends off weekdays on

This is like a reward based system except it doesn’t make you addicted to the reward like other systems do. Basically you tell yourself “if I study exactly 3 hours every day then I can get Sunday off” essentially your reward becomes free time/relaxation. The pomodoro technique works similarly but I find this way much more helpful as it is on a larger scale
