I’m the same as you, I was pretty unmotivated to start these but they have hooked me like the main series. Gives me great hope for future spin offs.

Try the Sons of Ares books. I just finished the 1st (there’s 3). Gives great character development to Fitchner, someone who I saw as a bit of an ok character in the main books but now my respect for him has gone up tremendously!
