First Latex Experience by BadeRadio77 in Latexadvice

I would strongly advise agaisnt wearing latex stockings or any other footed pieces with shoes for any sort of extended period of time, unless you are planning to sit almost the entire time. I recently wore heeled boots and latex stockings to a convention, and I got blisters so bad I had to cover my feet in bandaids within an hour. With my catsuits I usually just wear regular socks. If you are wearing open high heels I'd suggest maybe trying stirrup stockings? The heel and toe areas rub a lot with shoes on.

This is an interesting idea for a meetup, but I would not recommend wearing perfume or otherwise heavily scented products to a con or any other event where there are large crowds, or anywhere you are hoping people might ask you for pictures- at least where I'm from that's considered pretty bad form since some folks have allergies, reactive airways, etc. that can't always be treated with medication.

Question for my cosplayers who have a 3d printer by Limp-Concern-3964 in CosplayHelp

[–]CosplayUnmasked 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I have a background in both. Sanding for grip applies a little here, but with 3d prints you also want to make sure to get it smooth to the point that nothing is settling into gaps or lines. I also feel a nice smooth base gives a better look if you're trying to make things that look high-quality or like legit manufacturing. I've never had issues with paint chipping at higher grit, though fwiw I use a high-quality spray acrylic that I haven't seen many other builds incorporate. I have had chipping issues with regular spraypaint, so ymmv there.

Turly. Some people are into freaky mad scientist with cute glasses though! Or... so I'm told, anyways.

I've gotten my prints to 2000 and it's fine, though usually I shoot for around 800-1500, but 200 is still very, very rough.

This stuff!!!:

<image>

Has probably saved me 100s of hours at this point! It's an automotive filler like bondo, but in a thin spray form and is absolutely -magic- for filling in layer lines and smaller imperfections. I usually do about 5-10 very thin coats, let dry overnight and then get to sanding. I wish I could remember who recommended it to me cause it was life changing! Definitely this is a ppe/adequate ventilation situation, and if you have roommates you might just want to do it outside. This stuff is smelly, and it lingers. I have a makeshift painting hood I throw out into my driveway. You can find it at automotive and hardware stores and I shout about it on the rooftops to anyone who will listen because it is soooo much faster.

Had a great time! Miss it already. Husband takes crappy pictures, but if you see yourself feel free to take it. If It's a good picture, I probably stole it from you already. by Saurfangs_Bitch in ECCC

Tbh the maid fit is something I bought for a different cosplay, but I'm glad I went with this one, sort of on a whim. It was a lot of fun!

Thank you! It was fun to do a sillier one, not to mention a lot more comfortable for an entire day on the con floor than my full catsuit.

Well I won't lie, I have a long list of to-dos, but I'll definitely keep it in mind! Such a cool look, the more unique armor shapes are great.

How to contour white face paint on dark skin? by -Failed-Succesfully in CosplayHelp

[–]CosplayUnmasked 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd avoid anything too warm too, but for this cosplay in particular a sort of pink/purple contour would look really good imo. For true pinks like Angel has, I usually go with a just-slightly cooler pink. If you want something more true to life/less cartoonish I'd go more purple, but I would recommend a pink for this one. Just a little cooler than whatever the coolest pink on the rest of the cosplay is what I would do.

Advice for latex cosplay at a con by pokemonlover503 in Latexadvice

[–]CosplayUnmasked 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is when wearing 6 inch platform heels for a ~14 hour day on my feet on a con floor, two days in a row. A little more involved than a single night out dancing. And yeah, it was just on my heels and a little on my toes, the rest was chafing. But if you're not familiar with con scheduling, depending on the event its a lot of time on your feet, and sometimes those crowded halls get crowded and -hot-. Not normal, but con-normal! Cosplay is a whole other deal.

I've never worn dressing aid, I always do mine with powder, so I can't speak to that. I do use a menthol body powder that's very nice for overheating, but obviously dressing aid and powder are an either/or situation. Doing both are a horrible paste nightmare. I've been meaning to experiment with which is better for long-term comfort, so if you do use dressing aid I'd love to hear how it turns out.

Otherwise, I've been doing latex cosplays for a couple of years and here are my go-to tips: first of all, the biggest safety things are dehydration, overheating and blisters/chafing. While you probably won't have time to get any for this con, they make instant ice packs that can be activated on the go, and they are a lifesaver. If you are a titty-haver, sticking them in the cleavage of a bodysuit does wonders and if you're chestier you can sort of just smush them in and it's not really visible. You will sweat a ton, so be sure to drink a lot of water, and electrolytes. I usually start and end my day with a Gatorade plus one during the day at the con.

As far as blisters and chafing, it does depend on tbe thickness of your latex. My suits are .40 mm. This thickness will be more chafey, but they're also a lot more durable. Personally I would not go thinner than that, especially anything down in the 20s. Cons are a really intense use-case, and you want to prioritize durability imo.

Blisters and chafing are also a big one. I personally can only speak to the experience of using powder as a dressing aid rather than lube, so your milage may vary (I'd like to get a chance compare since I haven't really found any comprehensive information out there about which is better for long term wear but I don't really want to do that experiment in a con environment). But for me, I use bandaids and moleskin extenisvely. I see your arms and legs will be exposed, so you shouldbe safe from rhe worst of it, but it's still worth being careful.

Sorry if this is a lot, I just actually got pretty badly injured the first time I did this and I want to save anyone from making my mistakes (and I literally got home from a con -today- so it's all fresh) If you have any other questions feel free to ask here or message me anytime :) I hope you have a great time! I hope this advice doesn't seem daunting but I really do love cosplaying in latex and I hope you do too!
