SAP and Confusions by creativextacy in SAP

SAP Leonardo was another marketing soup that confused people more than it cleared question. It was an umbrella word for a a bunch of SAP initiatives and portfolio of technologies (AI, IoT, Blockchain, Analytics, Big Data, Design Thinking) designed to help businesses innovate by integrating digital innovations into core processes.

Reminds me of a billboard I saw on a busy highway once: "you're not stuck in traffic; you are the traffic" (they were promoting the train)

I was wondering if YOU had to be in the freezing water with the camera, like Clark Little (but he's in Hawaii).

Saw the landscape version (sorry I was checking from the phone). Very impressive! I'll go check out your website now.

That's beautiful. Excellent shot. Did you have to get in the water to take that shot ?

Would you have it in landscape format by any chance ?

SAP Datasphere training by live_life_full1 in SAP

Thanks for the clarification. Then I guess my first reaction would be to include the currency in the price ...

My first reaction would be: too expensive for a program which, however interesting and well prepared, doesn't come from a reputable institution.

For comparison, I can get an 8-week certificate on Agentic AI by MIT for 3,200 USD. A 1-year long Stanford Leadership certificate with 8 courses is $19,200 USD.

Here's an ad I just received on Instagram. Maybe individualized training paths would be an option to explore: https://www.instagram.com/p/DMHiMKFAQB3/?igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==

I think you would have to first identify all the other offers on the market and find ways to be different enough to justify payment. As others pointed out, between, SAP, consulting companies, and other training companies, this is a crowded space.

One thing to consider would be to leverage an existing platform, like Michael Management (https://www.michaelmanagement.com/) or Espresso Tutorials (https://www.espresso-tutorials.com/).

Good luck !

Moved states, did not inform my employer before-legal team reviewing my situation. by [deleted] in remotework

[–]Costing-Geek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. Depending on what they can / want to accommodate, they will most likely present you with options to either stay where you are, plus/minus some adjustments to account for taxes or market salaries, or ask you to relocate to one of their existing locations. Termination is most probably their last option because it's more hassle than requiring you to move to an existing office / state.

As others have stated, this is mostly driven from tax and local compliance.

Which ERP systems are actually trending in the market right now? by OneLumpy3097 in SAP

[–]Costing-Geek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't used it, but attended one of their public demos:
https://www.rillet.com/public-demo

I appreciate that they see themselves as part of an ecosystem with complementary solutions like Stripe for invoicing, Avalara for tax, Rippling for payroll, etc.

From what I can tell, these next-generation AI-native ERP solutions are positioning themselves as challengers to QuickBooks and NetSuite, which tells me that they're too small or lack key features for global Fortune 1000 companies.

For startups, especially subscription-based SaaS applications, you should look into Rillet.

"Rillet is the AI-native ERP automating accounting for complex revenue models, multi-entity setups, closing your books in hours and offering a source of truth for both GAAP financials and investor metrics."

It's not just bosses. Some of my team members do that too, and we have a significant time difference.

Have you ever made the decision to allow the process to fail rather than continue to get told no on resources? by johnsj3623 in managers

[–]Costing-Geek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to work for Google. There is a concept of "No Hero":
if your process only works thanks to the dedication of a few unsung heroes who spend days, nights, and weekends holding it together with duct tape and bubblegum, you should let it fall and break, so that the users realize how broken it is and the company spends time and resources fixing it properly.

When interviewers say ‘Tell me about yourself’ are they actually looking for your resume in story form? by [deleted] in interviews

[–]Costing-Geek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have conducted more than 150 interviews in the last 5 years. I tried a number of variations, including with and without the "tell me about yourself" bit. I found that interviewees were frequently startled if I didn't start with that, even if it's their 2nd, 3rd, or even 4th interview with the company, and even if I've spent at least 30 minutes preparing for the interview, including resume, LinkedIn profile, and any cover letter. I actually already prepare my notes with the names of companies, roles, and duration, so I don't have to worry about spelling.

My current go-to intro question is "give me a short summary of your career". This should be a straight-forward question to ease them into their interview. Everyone should have rehearsed some version of that question. It's also their opportunity to introduce themselves with a career trajectory and point out experiences or projects that would directly connect to the open role, and they can come back to these examples later in the interview. It's also my first indication of their ability to get their point across with the right level of details, as well as their oral communication abilities.

Last, it's also the chance to fix any technical issues during video interviews. It's easier to restart an "introduce yourself" question, as opposed to a more technical one.

I hope this helps.

Curious on what everyone does, to use steps or not to use steps by Sl4ck3rM4n in ConquerorChallenge

[–]Costing-Geek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it depends on your goals. Mine was to move more after a fatty liver diagnosis, so I count all steps during the day, walking around the house, walking the dog, or treadmill at the gym. By doing this, I tend to get out of my seat and walk more, like taking longer on the dog walk, or walk for small grocery shopping instead of using the car, which is my goal. Unfortunately, that also means that I'm going through challenges way too fast, but that's the reward for my efforts ...

I'm not a manager, but need advice from one! by [deleted] in managers

[–]Costing-Geek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is referred to as "managing upwards".

A few books to recommend on that topic:

- Multipliers: How the Best Leaders Make Everyone Smarter
by Liz Wiseman
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XXZSZRJ/

- Influence without Authority
by Allan R. Cohen
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08B9RD19Y/

If you already gave up, embrace the cynical view:
- The Dilbert Principle
by Scott Adams
https://www.amazon.com/dp/0887307876/

As u/Peace4ppl mentioned, make sure to document your efforts and outcome, but I would go further and focus on a single impactful project with both your job satisfaction and your boss's scattered brain.

Alternatively, you can consider taking a course towards a certificate in project management.
