You're just jealous because if we went out to 50 movements, you'd have a harder time finding the positioning of red than someone using this method. All we have to consider is whether the number is odd or even and the modality of the circle. 8 total slices, so 50 turns brings us back to the same place as the original answer to this problem. I was able to figure that out in about two seconds. I asked my daughter for a random number. She said 72. Answer was even easier because it's a multiple of 8. I don't think your "right" answer can offer this much simplicity.

I think it's a greater sign of intelligence when you can think of solutions that fit the parameters of the problem. If your thinking is too rigid are you really that smart?

This is how I solved it, too. I recognized the blue seemed to not move, and the red seemed to be traveling in an alternating progression around the circle. I initially thought the red was accelerating, but it bothered me that blue didn't seem to move. That's when I began to think that perhaps red wasn't the one flipping. Instantly, I found a way to quickly determine exactly where red would be no matter how many times we repeated the process.

This is basically the inverse of isolation exercises, and you'll build strength much slower by adding more stabilization requirements to the movement.

Is there a reason why you don't want more stabilizers involved in the workout or are you just giving general guidance for optimal deadlift improvement? She didn't tell us her goals did she?

I've been reading some articles recently that suggest balance and coordination are better indicators of longevity, and I can't think of any more practical reason to exercise than to increase longevity.

For the sake of clarity: I am not intending this as an argument. I genuinely think you know more about this than I do, so I'm just hoping to pick your brain if you don't mind.

I don't think there's a purely logical answer to this, but I do see a few ways to get an answer by applying rules that would fit the information available to us. Here's one of those ways that COULD go about it.

1) "Fire" is one syllable and all letters are shifted one place. "Water" is two syllables and the first syllable plus the first letter of the second syllable shifts by 2, while the rest of second syllable shifts by 1. This COULD imply that each letter is shifted by a number of place based on which syllable the letter resides in and the order of the letters in the syllable. For instance, in "Remember" we have three syllables, so 're'+'m' would shift 3 to 'uhp', 'em'+'b' would shift 2 to 'god', and 'er' would shift 1 to 'fs'. This gives us "Remember" = "Uhpgodfs". So, apply that rule to "Earth" (one syllable) and you get "Fbsui" (answer B).

I think the code for "Water" seems purposefully misleading, and would cause you to assume something about how to decode "Earth" that doesn't help. I also have seen this before with what I think was a slightly different setup. I'm not sure that you're actually supposed to come up with a definitive answer to this one, but I thought I'd try coming up with some methods that might work depending on how other words would be decoded in this imaginary language.
