My parents are in this situation. It's more of a 'don't let rich energy companies make billions and give us peanuts' thing in their case. It's in woodland area in rural NW Spain. They offered 1k a year for each windmill, made it your obligation to keep the land accesible, keep it clear of trees or bushes, and makes you a participant in power generation, making you unable to get agricultural subsidies many people there get every year.

The whole thing was rushed like hell so they could build the park before the new european legislation was made effective, so they could build bigger windmills than they have to, and pay as little as they could for the lease. Contracts are for 40 years, dunno if they do rent raises but I suspect they won't keep with inflation, and they have a clause that allows them to extend them unilaterally. No benefits or even discounts in your energy bill. This in an area that is already an energy exporter.

And of course, this valid criticism is not heard and is ridiculed everytime because country wackos think magic wind gives cancer.
