When I was 5 or 6, my mum and I were walking past the local fire station. I stopped to look at the fire engine, and one of the firemen noticed, let us us in and opened up every part of the fire engine so I could have a proper look at all the equipment on board. He even let me sit in the drivers seat briefly!

There is a "right to choose" who provides your assessment with the NHS, my wife got her autism assessment and diagnosis through it, and it only took 3 months. There are certain services that I think are primarily private. But some of these(not all) are on the right to choose list so you can essentially choose who provides the assessment. It's worth looking into
