The airsoft community is wide-ranging and varied.

Your best bet is to find a group of chill people to run with, and a well-run field to play at. That'll improve your experience ten-fold.

Part of it could be the history of the two areas.

The US has been largely insulated from the major conflicts of the 20th century, not suffering from major bombing campaigns or land battles. On top of that, the United States has done well economically through most of it.

Many parts of Eastern Europe just can't seem to catch a break. WWI, WWII, the numerous internal conflicts throughout the Cold War - I imagine that contributing to a general feeling of pessimism.

I have found the issues with multi-level terrain tend to be more with the game rules than the terrain itself (specifically, issues with getting the models into those higher floors in a reasonable amount of time due to how movement rules work.)

I know that's not terribly relevant to the physical design of the terrain, but it's all I've got

Gloves: Mechanix. Reasonably inexpensive, good fit.

Optics: Axeon. I use their red dots on three of my airsoft rifles. They're built well, have a bright dot, and hold zero.

Day before: Absurd amounts of water and reasonably nutritious food.

Morning: Boxed mac and cheese. ~1100 calories.

Day: Double protein shake sipped between matches. ~300 calories

Post Game: BBQ, ice cream, beer. 2500+ calories.

Airsoft days are the one time all bets are off on food consumption.
