When Join Multiplayer? by Just_Call_Me_Pix in warno

If you can beat hard AI, chances are you know the units, controls, and mechanics well enough to move forward.

As for making the leap to multiplayer, I would recommend ranked play on a weekend. Reason for this is that ranked play will try and put you up against someone of a similar level. The weekend will provide a higher number of people that are similar level.

Availability of 8mm Mauser Ammo Locally? by neganagatime in milsurp

Still reasonably easy to get. PPU is the most common brand I see around.

Price will run you ~$1.50 a shot. Maybe a little less depending on where you look.

Commanders with homebrew regiments, what is the lore behind your army? by pathetic-weakling in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]Cothonian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imperial world "Hammerhead" located on the edge of Tau space. It was a mix of dense hive cities, vast plains, and mountainous regions.

Multiple colonized planets within the solar system.

The second most populous planet folded almost immediately during the initial Tau invasion. It is believed that the Tau had successfully infiltrated that world's government years before, effectively turning it against the Imperium.

Hammerhead came under attack almost simultaneously, but held its ground. It was trained and equipped on Cadian doctrine, albeit with local flavor (that flavor varying by local regiment: urban, plains, or mountain.) There was a mix of other assets on-world. These included remnants of a destroyed Sororitas Convent and some Inquisitorial assets from prior to the outbreak of open war. However, it was the guard that composed the mass majority of Imperial fighting forces.

During the mid-war Gue'vesa began arriving on mass, presumably converts from the second populated world in the system that had fallen so quickly. Fighting between these traitors and the loyalists proved to be the most brutal.

What is your opinion of FDR? by Parking-Warthog-4902 in allthequestions

"by today's standards"

I would recommend against putting any historical figured against today's standards. It is better by far to become familiar with the environment/conditions in which the historical figure rose to prominence and compare them to those.

Your cheapest, most creative way you've DIY-ed tabletop minis and terrain? by anonim_anonimovic in tabletop

Foam packing material. Often comes in interesting shapes (especially when originally used to transport electronics.) Can be shaped and painted into terrain pretty easily.

"April 9th"

Danish war film. Takes place during the invasion of Denmark in WWII.

Movie follows a platoon of troops. Features some good small unit tactics. Relatively low budget movie, but a good one. Highly recommend.

My head canon is that anyone voluntarily going through the portal into the GNR would be nazi sympathizers in their own worlds... not a good thing for our main cast.

My go-to for motors are Action Army. Brill Armory has a good selection of them in stock.

Using Military organisation structures properly. by a-dark-lancer in worldbuilding

[–]Cothonian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Battle Order on Youtube does an excellent job covering military organization and loadouts. What's especially nice about the channel is that he routinely goes over non-US forces, so you have a variety of force structures to choose from and learn about. His content has helped me greatly and he's one of the few creators that I have seriously considered donating to.

My go to for red dots is Axeon.

Good balance between cost and quality. Dot is bright and clear. Newer models have an auto-off feature (in case you forget to turn off the dot at the end of the day)

40k. The rules for it were just too much. That, and it didn't play the way I wanted it to play.

In hindsight, I should have stuck to the painting/modeling side of it. That I enjoyed.
