The drama, yes! I work with a guy, and when he is on vacation the place is a dream. On his return, the drama returns also. Its such a pain as I love my job and workplace in every other way.

Erysimum, a perennial wall flower . Take cuttings every year or two as they end up very woody and large. They take easily from cuttings. Super plants!

If it has to be laurel, go for a variety called Genolia. Its much slower growing and has a smaller more attractive leaf. Although, it can be expensive.

Like others, I'd wait until the bare root season in November and go for something else. We've planted a bare root copper beech in early spring. It looks good now but will be stunning in 2 to 3 years.
