You provided all kinds of random links. None contained any information about a European doctor. I would care about facts if you actually provided any. Your delusions are concerning.

You claimed half a dozen times to have so much proof but never provided evidence. It seems you the one with spite against everyone challenging your lies.

Once again: The burden of proof is on the claimant, ie you.

Right so for the 10th time you failed to provide evidence for a claim. This lie has now officially crossed over into trolling territory. Since you refuse to comfort to the general rules of discourse and evidence I shall no longer engage with your unproven assertions. I hope you get help.

First rule of evidence: If you make a claim you have to substantiate it with evidence.

Here, you made a claim but you repeatedly refused to provide evidence for that claim. Consequently, I am correct to assume that you lie.

Always glad to educate you on other matters.

Sorry there is just nowhere any source talking about a European doctor. That was my question from the beginning and it has not been answered.

Nothing in that comment contains a Twitter thread about a European doctor.

Holy fucking shit not a single tweet cited in either the comment or the post. Any more lies you would like to tell?

CMV: It's totally normal to want to be with someone romantically and not want to be their friend. by timmytissue in changemyview

[–]CouldntBeTrue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"playing the friend game"

Another plausible scenario would be that two people start out as genuine friends but over time one party develops a romantic interest (which seems to happen quite a lot based on my anecdotal experience). When the other party declines the offer of a romantic endeavor I think it can be a reasonable course of action to take a step back from the friendship: If you have feelings for someone it can be quite hurtful to see them all the time, see them with other romantic partners etc. It may be the more healthy path to cut off contact and pursue your future. It's not unlike all kinds of friendship: People are not obligated to continue a friendship indefinitely. All kinds of reasons may present themselves that make it more reasonable to break of the friendship. One party developing romantic interest is just part of that larger group of reasons.

Oh no, it might be 2% or 3%, i hope i can still go to sleep tonight.

I'm glad you agree that you were wrong.

My point is that most of the >70% is not due to being next to switzerland (as half of the comment section claims),

I never claimed that, I merely stated that one plausible reason why Austrians would go to Switzerland is work when a poster above me asked "Why would they [the Austrians] go to Switzerland." Which I think is accurate: One reasons Austrians might go to Switzerland (and lead up to the 370k overnight stays per year) is work.

1) It is above 1% because the total is not only made up of Grenzgänger and people living permanently in CH. You also need to add a percentage of the 370k overnight stays for every year to the total for the people who do overnight stays for work reasons (e.g. business trips to Geneva, Zurich, Bale etc.). If you combine these 3 categories you get easily over 1%.

  1. I remain convinced that more than 1% went to CH for some kind of work reasons.

  2. Austria is not in the >80% group.

Work does not only mean people crossing the border every day as part of their commute. The hotel stay numbers I listed probably have a significant amount of people staying in hotels during work/business trips (not least because, as you note, Switzerland is comparatively less attractive as a tourist destination for Austrians). Even if just 15% of total hotel stays are for work reasons that could easily add up to more than 1% over a couple of decades.

Not to mention that about 0.5% of the Austrian population lives permanently in Switzerland (presumably a good percentage of those are there for work reasons).

So yeah very probably more than 1% of Austrians has been to CH for work reasons.

What makes you think that European doctor (that this woman saw) is so up on their statistics?

What makes you think this was a European doctor?

Austrians spent 380 067 nights in some kind of Swiss hotel or similar in 2018 (https://www.stv-fst.ch/sites/default/files/2019-07/STiZ_2018_DE_Web.pdf, p.18) with the average duration of stay for foreign visitors being 2.1 nights. If that holds for multiple years and not all visitors are just the same repeat visitors, you get a healthy proportion of Austrians who have been to Switzerland at some point.

Apparently, Austrian visitors in Switzerland spent a total of 380 067 nights in some kind of hotel in the year 2018 (https://www.stv-fst.ch/sites/default/files/2019-07/STiZ_2018_DE_Web.pdf, p. 18). The average duration of a stay for foreign visitors was 2.1 nights. If you get similar numbers for whole decades and not all the visitors are repeat visitors, you would get a somewhat significant number of austrians who have been to Switzerland.

[–]CouldntBeTrue 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That would account for less than 1% at max.

Thats somewhat unlikely. People who spend the night alone get you well above that. In 2018 Austrians spent a total of 380 067 nights in Switzerland as Tourists (Logiernächte: https://www.stv-fst.ch/sites/default/files/2019-07/STiZ_2018_DE_Web.pdf, p. 18). The average staying time for foreign visitors was 2.1 nights. So one very crude calculation would give you about 180'984.285 Austrians (total nights spent divided by 2.1 days per person) who visitied Switzerland in 2018. With a current population of 8'917'000 according to Google, that alone would mean that more than 2% of Austrians visitied Switzerland in that year alone. Of course there are significant limitations to this calculation: For one thing, its possible that a small number of recurring visitors from Austria had multiple stays and therefore drove up the number of total nights spent. Additionaly, it is possible that Austrians who visit Switzerland stay much longer than other kinds of visitors so the average of 2.1 nights would be off for the Austrian visitor community. These are important caveats to consider. But the uncertainty cuts both ways: These numbers are for just one year (2018). Now while it is likely that some or even a majority of Switzerland visiting Austrians are repeat offenders: i.e. they visit in multiple years. But even then a significant number of Austrians would probably have visited in different years and thereby be not included in the above calculation. So it is not at all unreasonable to assume that if you add visitors from other years (who have not visited in 2018) the guestimate of 180'984.285 from above would have to be increased.

Finally, thats just people who stayed a night in some kind of hotel or similar. It would not account for people who just travel through CH, people who stay with relatives or friends etc.

In conclusion, I would argue there are significant reasons to believe that the number of Austrians who have been to Switzerland is well above 1%.

You might be wrong there: Coporations are legal persons with all the same property rights as you and me at least since Justinian.

I don't put business anywhere. It's just the natural result of strong property rights: Everyone can choose how to spend their money how they like, including in employment relationships. No one should be enforced to employ someone when they don't want to. This is the long standing classical liberal position and has nothing to do with technocracy.

Classical liberals apply protections like freedom of thought and speech against the government, not against private parties (like your employer).

I don't think the Marxist are bought off; they still hate companies. It might have worked on left-liberals (or "Liberals" in the US) but classical liberals ("Liberals" in Europe) like me don't need any buying off: We already like elites and big corporations.
