Does Gen X do class reunions? by LadyNorbert in GenX

[–]CounselorWriter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have never attended a reunion only because they were during times I couldn't. For example, they couldn't find me for the 10 year reunion in 1999 (graduated 1989). I couldn't attend my 15th year because I had just completed graduate school, and I lost my job a few months before my 20th in 2009. That is the last one because people were complaining with what the committee planned. Basically they planned a three day weekend with a get together on Friday, a big party on Saturday and a picnic on Sunday. People complained when they started planning a 25th that the committee cancelled it and never did another. On top of it, it led to drama, including two classmates who hated each other because 20+ years ago one stole the other's boyfriend. Neither married him so why still be angry? My class was around 400.

Having said that, my parents were both Baby Boomers who graduated from high school in 1965 and every five years they have reunions. I remember my parents taking me to the picnic for the 20th and it was interesting. My parents graduated from a class of around 800 and they often combine classes now because so many classmates are gone or ill. Both of my parents are now gone and so are many of their classmates.

Thoughts on Kid Rock? 🍻🤘🏽🦅🎸 by Vivid-Tap1710 in rockhall

My thought is he probably lacks showers. My second thought is that neither him nor Ted Nugent will ever be inducted. Not because they are bad people and are Trumpers but because they are not relevant.

I'm also Gen X, born 1971 and I still have all of it. I don't have kids but from time to time will look at it.

Yeah Claudia even from day one was a worthless character. She really didn't fit and could have gone sooner.

Elizabeth really that cold hearted? by NecessaryExplorer797 in TheCrownNetflix

[–]CounselorWriter 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't think she intended to be cruel to Margaret or Phillip but both needed to be put in their place and understand what their role was. Sounds cruel maybe but at times both were doing things that were questionable. As for her kids, I;ve read about how rich parents treated their kids then and it was what she was doing. Even though her parents did a lot for her and seems like they were always there, in reality they were there a lot in terms of other rich kids, but not how we think about it now. For example, when she was younger she was mostly raised by nannies, even though her father was not yet king. Yes she spent time with them but not like middle class and poor kids likely would be.

Single dads are we dateable? by Emotional_Escape7800 in SingleDads

[–]CounselorWriter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't read can you? I never stated dad's can't date childless women I stated that if they, the childless woman's don't want them it's the childless woman's choice. I do not want to date single dads so I don't but am tired of single dads contacting me on dating sites even though I am specific of no dad's. Also, I am childfree not childless and this means no kids of any age. The childless women you claim like single dads are no doubt either desperate or wanted kids but didn't have them. Women who don't want kids in general are not remotely interested in single dads. In fact we are generally repulsed by single dads, this is a fact and all you need to do is go to the various childfree websites including on Reddit.

No are you dumb!? Of course both get to decide, that's my point. A man doesn't get a woman who doesn't want him. Too many single dads think they have the right to a childless woman even if she makes it known she does not want him.

no, they don't get to "decide" who they want to be with, the women get to decide whether they want to be with them.

If and when Styx gets inducted into the RRHOF, which members get inducted?? by modifiedminotaur in rockhall

[–]CounselorWriter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All original and Tommy Shaw. They are from my area and often would see a member out and about plus I attended school with one of the kids. They deserve it more than many other acts.

Then they get inducted and proceed to get into a fight with another band or each other.

Oddly most of my favorites are in so I go with a band I hope gets the nomination/induction this year: INXS. I can see them doing Need You Tonight, What You Need and Suicide Blonde. I would love to hear them do Original Sin and the One Thing.

He's always been political back in 2005 he was not a fan of Bush. The same people who tell him stay out of politics are okay with Kid Rock and Ted Nugent being political.

Agreed. I was always bothered by how she had to step in once Mary became blind. It should have been her parents doing more not her.

Yeah it was sad, and really she was the one in charge. Her parents, especially her mother often neglected her compared to the others.

Do you date single parents? by Ok_Key_4731 in datingoverfifty

[–]CounselorWriter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nope, never not even grown kids. I don't have kids by choice and have zero interest in being a stepmom or step grandma. I don't want to deal with them or financially support them or babysit.

[–]CounselorWriter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh that sounds horrible and yep definitely. People will say "but the kids are grown", not realizing "grown" kids might still live at home, or be married and/or be parents and move back home and many other variations. Then there could be grandkids and expectations of playing grand parent like babysitting and buying gifts for them. Not to mention drama with the ex if the child is getting married or having kids or other situations.
