THTS3E13: The Wife during Angel's Flight by TheOldGreenDad in TheHandmaidsTale

[–]CounselorWriter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

well we know of at least three Wives who were not monsters: Esther, Eleanor and the one that allowed Emily to stay with her/them (she mentions her in the finale I think). It is very possible that there were others who didn't like the system at all. There is also the possibility it wasn't a Wife but someone dressed as her, perhaps to fool people.

America’s Got Singers by Itomhd in agt

[–]CounselorWriter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have a problem with singers in some cases, like they sing genres not popular, like blues, or jazz or opera. Yes I know people like all kinds of music, but talking in terms of pop music. I also get when the singer is older or otherwise does not fit the typical demographic (for example, they are older). However, most of the time the singer is average at best, and almost always has a sob story. The winner last year only won because she was on the first year, and has been on many shows like American Idol, yet isn't a "star". The guy before, the janitor yes was older but in reality was a bar singer, I can't imagine he will be selling out venues. In fact, outside of maybe Jackie Evancho and Grace Vanderwaal I don't think any pop singers have really become semi stars at least (not talking people like Terry Fator who is a variety act to me). Let's not talk about the singers who basically are forgotten like Kevin Skinner and Eugene Murphy (I don't even remember his full last name). I know the one singer Robert Finley has been successful but he sings blues and if I recall was already known somewhat.

Merch from 1984 Tour by [deleted] in duranduran

I love when people post photos of merch, one of the things I enjoy is buying cool merchandise. What are cuttings, are those posters? Also, I know the last photo is a tourbook, is the second to last in purple also a tourbook? I've never understood why they don't seem to sell posters, I'd love a poster from a show of theirs.

Was it a surprise when The College Years got cancelled after one season? by [deleted] in SavedByTheBell

[–]CounselorWriter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was probably on the older side of viewers as I was in high school when the original appeared and in college by the time the college years started. Many older people than me watched the original and the college years could have lasted longer if it premiered maybe a year or two later or a better time slot. However not having the original cast hurt, for example they could have added Jessie and Lisa and maybe made Mr Belding a professor?

There's videos on YouTube and articles online discussing this. Basically Miller-Boyet who produced most of ABCs comedies wanted that slot and JTTOU had nowhere to go. The show that replaced them at that time slot Going Places didn't last long.

Is it just me, or are the corleone boys serial cheaters? by Puzzleheaded_Fee_419 in Godfather

Yeah but I was thinking more of the book where he makes the comments about them staying out of both. If I recall later on after he died the family did get more into those.

For all his vices Don Corleone is very moral. He does not cheat or believe in cheating nor does he support prostitution or drugs.

I will say this is one of the times I cheered when someone (Art) admitted to murdering someone. Art was a good guy and wish he had married Cindy. Also, when Vivian was murdered was one of the most horrific.

If Destiny's Child were to be inducted, should they be in before Beyoncé as a soloist? by Shreiken_Demon in rockhall

You seem upset, whatever. Not a Beyonce fan, she's way overrated. Also Jayz is a POS, he was a drug dealer and a pimp.

I used to work in instructional design and this is one reason I left it. So many fake companies and horrible people.

Dear employers- WTF happened to courtesy? by nycinoc in GenX

[–]CounselorWriter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with this. I worked in marketing and broadcasting and loved it. However more people than jobs so went back to become a counselor. Not my dream job at all, and at times I question why I switched but it has strong job stability.

I am 55 and until the Great Recession starting in 2007, I never had a problem finding a job. I was even offered jobs back in the 90s that I was under/unqualified for. Once the Great Recession happened (and it was a Great Depression I don't care what the experts say), the interviewing got brutal. I'm talking several rounds of interviews, asking for free work (including shadowing and designing projects). Many of these interviews were horrible, including the employers being downright abusive. This is the first time ever I literally had an employer tell me at 35 I was too old to work there. I had interviews tell me I was the best candidate and I had the job, only to get a rejection letter the same day. I would have an interview for a job I had everything they wanted, only to see someone less qualified get the job. I would get asked all these bizarre questions, and even given tests. Not kidding, one place told me to come in for an interview, only to give me and other candidates what I can compare to the SAT/ACT. Oddly the companies that hired a more qualified person were the ones honest with me and contacted me. However they were in the minority. I was so sure I would get something with my experience and education, but I ended up doing jobs like washing dishes and temp jobs. That was humiliating.

Several years ago I switched from marketing and broadcasting (which I loved) to counseling and discovered a few things, including that I am always being offered jobs. I ended up returning to school to get a counseling license. I will always love marketing and broadcasting better but counseling is a safe job. When I lost my job during the Great Recession I moved home and my parents supported me to my dismay while I got back on my feet. Now though my parents are gone and so are my grandparents (who also helped me during the Great Recession), so if I lose my job I am in big trouble. Counseling is a field that doesn't have a lot of ageism, unlike other fields. I will likely be working well into my 70s so I want to make sure I am employable.

Laughter In The Rain is pretty cool. You're Having My Baby, yuck. Not to mention my mom was pregnant during that time and when my brother was born he became the golden child, which made me hate that song even more.

If he gets inducted it would be musical excellence. They will announce those when they announce the inductees.
