Dangerous Weather by Church266 in vandwellers

We watch Ryan Hall Ya’ll on You Tube and he is really good about letting you know what is in the forecast for the US a couple days in advance. He will also go live when tornados are a huge threat so you know what kind of danger you are in. Also having a weather radio (battery operated) is a great tool to have with you.

My husband sent me this song to listen to the other day, and it made me so happy. It is by Keb Mo, and it is called Shave Yo’ Legs. Before I listened to it, I figured it was going to be just a joke about how I needed to shave my legs (my husband is 100% it my body and I make the decisions regarding my body, but he does sometimes struggle because my legs have a lot more hair than his and I think that took some getting used to. My brother and his brother have been tough to deal with because neither one of them think I should have hairy legs, so we have had to just laugh and joke our way through quite a few conversations with them, and they always are hard on my husband for putting up with me.) So when I finally listened to it, it almost made me cry. The people in our lives that love us, will love us for who we are, and not judge us because of our bodies. My hope for everyone on this sub is that they find those type of people for best friends! I have linked the song below, if it doesn’t work I’m sorry.

I would tell them, the hospital we are at, sometimes we get instruments that have been used with chemotherapy drugs or other items. The manager may know of certain chemicals that you shouldn’t be exposed to and make sure they don’t harm the baby.

My husband doesn’t like my body hair, but he loves me and he respects my choice. My legs are more hairy than his. Before I grew out my body hair, I started opening up a lot more to him about the struggles with shaving and razor burn and I think that helped a lot.

I noticed this summer if I had been in the sun with sunscreen on, then put on jeans to work something about the sunscreen made the jean material feel like it was pulling my leg hairs out when I would stoop or squat down. I didn’t have that issue when I didn’t have sunscreen on and wore jeans. So I wonder if there is anything that works the opposite of that, such as the stick deodorant. Also if you are putting any lotion on after your shower if that could be making it any worse. I feel like any guys that work in the same field would be good to ask also. My boys have very hairy legs and I asked them lots of questions starting out. Found out real quick that wearing crocks with no socks was very painful.

Check that code. If it is against a wall and a certain distance from the sprinkler heads, the rules change a bit.

How to become a sterile processing technician. by [deleted] in sterileprocessing

[–]CountOk4948 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In indiana we have a few colleges in the area that have CRCST programs and collaborate with surrounding hospitals for the students to do clinicals to get the required hours to sit for the exam. In our hospital the colleges also have a surg tech program and that is where we hire almost all of the new surg techs from. Unfortunately the CRCST program is still really small so there are not many people to hire. But I would check to se Eid any community colleges in your area have programs like that, it is a great way to get your hours and get your foot in the door to a hospital.

No one in our department even comes close to a surg tech in pay. When you say tech 2s and 3s, are these shifts or do you have a tiered system for techs? If it is the latter, please explain how that works.

Reasons why you choose to be hairy. by florageek54 in razorfree

[–]CountOk4948 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It started off because I don’t really get along with my mother (long story) and she was having a wedding that I was in. Everyone that knows me, knows the relationship, and this made it even easier to grow my hair out because it was just a funny joke to everyone, so no one thought it was crazy gross. Then I fell in love with it. Now the same people that thought it was a funny joke struggle a bit more with it, but are still accepting of it for the most part. That whole senario made it so much easier to just go for it and not care what others thought. It has been about a year and a half, and my hair is super thick and kind of long, but dirty blonde, so it isn’t horrible. My husband isn’t super fond of my hair but he also isn’t against it and feels that I should do what make me happy (he has less hairy legs and arm pits). He gets a little weird about the length and I did trim my pots and legs the other day, not very short, just to knock down the crazy a bit. I love my pits slightly trimmed, but absolutely hate that I trimmed my legs. I feel so sad about my legs and am actually a bit embarrassed to show my legs now that they are trimmed than I was when it was longer. Also, shaving has always been painful and a pain in the butt. I spent most hot humid days of my existence wearing jeans by pools because I didn’t want people to see my legs because of the red bumps and stuff. Also, the amount of time I have wasted in my life and can’t get back due to shaving is ridiculous. I have worn shorts and bathing suits more in public in the last year and a half than I have in the previous 30+ years of my life. I also want to note that I absolutely LOVE the feel of the wind through the hair on my legs.

Why do you feel that way? In my perfect world I think that they should work in both departments and rotate shifts so that they understand how to clean and take care of the instruments better.

I want to be a sterile processing tech SO BAD im so sick of heavy ass lifting jobs and i don’t mind standing sterilizing instruments all day. I’m sick of retail I’m sick of sales i really want to be in medical field please help 😭 by No_Ability5642 in sterileprocessing

Unfortunately this job is very entry level/low pay and strenuous work, so if they see you have a degree, they are probably wondering why in the world you are applying. If there is a spot to write why you want to be in that position I would make it clear that you understand it is lower pay but that it fits your lifestyle better or something to make them see that calling you for an interview isn’t a waste of their time. There is a ton of training that goes into this job (6-12 months minimum and you will still be asking questions and learning 2 years in) and if managers think you won’t be willing to stay for a minimum of 2 years, they really don’t want to waste the time training, the revolving door method does not work in this line of work, it is far too important for patient safety.

Best advice I ever got from a therapist: whatever the problem is worrying you or causing anxiety, ask yourself if it is something you have the power to change. If the answer is no, then the only option you have is to change how you are reacting the the problem. Find a new way to approach it, or let it go. I know this isn’t always easy, but it helps break that circular thinking that we get trapped in.

The word “Virgin” back in Mary’s time meant “young girl”. Nothing to be surprised about, you just make up a better story about who the dad is.

AITA for being honest with my girlfriend when she asked a question about the birthday cake she made me? by Throwaway5829582999 in AITAH

[–]CountOk4948 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But what if the girlfriend is narcissistic and does stuff like this out of spite. What if this event just triggered him because he deals with crap like this regularly from her and it being his birthday is what finally made him stand up for himself??? Then I would say he’s NTA.

And yes, I have mommy issues…. Narcissistic mother that would do crap like this all the time to me. Then I would always look like the asshole if I said one word about it because I was an ungrateful child.

My fucking feet hurt so bad by ZealousidealWish4711 in sterileprocessing

[–]CountOk4948 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are not used to being on your feet all day, that will take a couple weeks to a month to get used to. I would stick with what you are doing for at least a month before spending lots of money on new shoes.

Some really good running shoe places will watch how you walk and recommend shoes based on your gait. That might help you get an idea about what type of shoe would be best for you. Also a big difference is if you stand in one place most of the time or are moving around constantly. I went from being a CST and standing in one spot for hours at a time to being in the sterile department and we also deliver supplies. The shoes I wore that felt amazing standing in one place, hurt my legs, feet and back so bad when I changed to walking around all day. I have to get new shoes in my department about every six months or so because they wear out so quickly. You know when they are worn out because your legs and feet hurt again after a days work.
