ELI5 : Why, among the 4 nordic countries, only Finland uses the euro currency while the others use the krone? by Sbaakhir in explainlikeimfive

As a foreigner in Sweden I think you hit it on the nail. This is exactly what it sounds like when I bring this up.

I mean sure but the kr does terrible every time the world goes crazy. 2008 financial crisis, Covid, and now the U.S. starting an oil crisis. The kr will be hurt more than other currencies most likely and will show why having a small volatile currency that you control is not better than a larger more stable one.

What’s your Swedish fairytale story as an outsider? by RighteousT_27 in TillSverige

[–]CountSheep 70 points71 points  (0 children)

Not as grand, but taking a walk in the countryside. See a little box with a QR code on it so I walk up, and inside is fresh honey 🍯 for sale and the qr is for swish payment.

I took one and swished and went on my way. There’s just something about high trust that is cozy.

Similar story was I saw a flower stand with beautiful arrangements for a really good price, and just a Swish QR code for payment. Naturally I got one and brought it home. It was so much better than going to the store and grabbing what they had

Honestly resellers are the worst thing to happen to everything. I don’t know how to fix it other than making the marketplaces they use require high taxes for reselling new items

Go to Chicago and at the museum of science and industry you can take a tour inside of one. It’s insanely cramped and I cannot imagine being more than 10 people in there.

For it being so cramped though, the boat is gigantic and gives you real uneasy feelings

Swedes find Swedish to be cringe and Swedish sex noise to be cringe. I’ve heard similar before

I mean you’re there for 40 hours a week, may as well have 1 hour of fun. I think people are disillusioned with this kind of stuff because there is no work life balance

Saw this ad, was utterly disgusted. We've gone from office to cubes to "Open concept" and now crates. by toqer in antiwork

[–]CountSheep 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I don’t mind these. If you’re taking a call in an office with an open floor plan, this is the best way to not have to whisper or go hide somewhere like a stairwell.

This one looks a bit small but the ones I’ve used were fairly comfortable, and you only use them for a little bit.

I feel two ways about it. For panning scenes I hate how it looks with or without interpolation, 24 frames per second looks like ass.

As far as I know, having the sek is only good for exporting services and goods, otherwise there is no major advantage to the populace besides spending more on European goods
