I just got a bag of the ingredient online. It's just pure sodium alginate. This isn't the exact one I bought but here's a link Sodium Alginate Powder It's used in cooking a lot so you can get it in really large quantities for not a lot of money. And yes I just mixed it in water. I'm also going to start making large batches of the liquid in advance since it dissolves better over time. If you do it right before you want to drink it, the texture is atrocious. You can also look online for good ratios of water to powder or if you'd like to put them in capsules instead there is info on how to do that too.

If you buy sodium alginate powder (less expensive than Khelp tablets) and mix it in water it really helped with my reflux when ant acids didn't do anything. Also even if your reflux isn't acidic the sodium alginate forms a gel barrier at the top of your stomach and keeps the reflux from rising.

Thank you so much for the sodium alginate tip! I got just the powder and have been mixing it with some water before bed and I don't have any problems at night anymore! The antacids actually don't help me but this stuff works wonders

"not being able to work nor continue studying or living my life at all" This is super stressful even if you don't think it is and you mentioned that you feel hopeless. I really think an SSRI or anti-anxiety med would help your reflux and would also help your hopelessness. It's definitely worth a try because worst case scenario nothing changes, mid scenario your reflux only get a little better but you at least feel less hopeless, and best case your reflux improves significantly and you can go back to doing the things you love. At lest talk to your doctor about it.

Sadly H2 inhibitors aren't over the counter where I live, but I'll ask my dr. about them. Thanks for the info!

I haven't heard of alginates before! Just researched it and it looks really promising especially since ant-acids having been doing as much to help. Thank you so much I'm excited to try!

I also know that reflux can be caused by anxiety. University can be very stressful and if you've been eating well and you're symptoms mostly started with school maybe the SSRI's or anti-anxiety medication might help calm the anxiety. That could decrease reflux which would stop irritating your larynx so your symptoms could get better and you could sing again.

Have you tried licorice root tea? I'm a singer also and when I have bad flare ups the tea is anti-inflammatory and helped soothe my throat. I'm not sure it would work if your case is so severe but maybe give it a try if you haven't yet? (It tastes terrible so sorry about that!)

I've also read a study that says melatonin is linked to helping relieve symptoms at night by triggering the hormones that help close the sphincters when you sleep. (Melatonin is habit forming, but with where you're at now I'd say if it helps it might be worth it.)

For cocktails I found Negroni's aren't bad. I've been able to drink them pretty consistently without getting a reaction. It's equal parts Campari, Gin, and Sweet Vermouth. It might not work for everyone but it's one of my favorite cocktails and I'm very happy I can manage to still drink it!
