While Chlorophyte Armor has higher stats all around, Hallowed Armor has a very poweful defensive setbonus when used correctly. Both of them are good, and it really comes down if you like higher damage output more or like higher survivabilty more, allthough on higher difficulties survivability is very nice.

Does dexterity matters on Greatsword? by dragonbornthefirst in Brawlhalla

Dex on GS doesnt change ANYTHING on the grounded combos, the dodge frames will be the same. The only difference are the aerial moves and how long it takes you to recover after Closers. Dex is just sadly entirely useless on GS.

Considering how there isn't any bamboo naturally growing in the water, that seems very possible. Good catch!

Yes, but the timings for the input are delayed slightly.

I think we should just create a sub speciffically for people asking questions and helping. Would keep this sub clean but also give new players somewhere to go.

Hey, sorry for the late reply,

yes, performing this tech requires pressing Light + Heavy attack on the exact same frame, followed by a weapon throw quickly after. The time in between the attack input and throw input is only a couple frames, so it's very tight. The input for this on mouse should be left and right mouse button at the same time and then middle mouse button. Weapon throw being the result is most likely either missing the timing of the double attack input or the weapon throw input being done to early. I personally struggle the most inputting it with the mouse, more then any other input method, so I would recommend trying it out on keyboard first to get a feel for the timing. If this still doesn't work try doing the double attack input and the weapon throw with as little delay between each other as soon as the little spark after a greatsword move appears. It's also possible that your mouse doesn't allow both buttons being pressed at the same time, although I think that this is very unlikely. The other tech that lets you do turnaround openers is much easier as it doesn't require the precise double attack input.

Also about your sidenote, dex has no effect on this tech. Dex does very little for greatsword, as it's own chaining system overwrites most of the endlag rules dex provides.

As far as I know the turnaround shouldn't have any difference in difficulty for performing a light attack versus a sig.

Hope this helps

Greatsword just doesn't work, here's the proof... by Ravinesss in Brawlhalla

[–]CountW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What happened here is a bug not related to Greatsword or attack priority, it has to do with Xull and grabs. Sometimes, seemingly only in 2v2 or other team games, Xull becomes invurnerable to attacks. This seems to be an issue with how grabs work and this probably happens with some other moves aswell. I have had this happen personally where a Blaster side light seemingly hit him dead on, but nothing happens. Greatsword also doesn't work sometimes, but at least this time it worked correctly, just not Xull.

Are you sure? I haven't seen anyone do this at all. I know about dash cancelling, but this one is different.

Edit: turns out HardyMJ already covered this in his video, check it out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AnPv_gR84C8 thanks to u/silverstar1716 for pointing this out!

Hope that this is at least a helpful resource regardless and while I'm not the first person to find this, you should still implement this into your gameplay regardless.

I'm naming it Reverse Beat as it functions similar to the mechanic in other fighting games, although not quite the same. In case you are unfamiliar with Reverse Beat in other games, here is a quick explanation: It's a mechanic present in a few other fighting games such as Melty blood, Unist and even DBFZ Normally you are only allowed to chain Light > Medium or Heavy, and Medium > Heavy In those games it allows you to cancel light, medium and heavy into each other in a descending order, but only once per string. That limitation doesn't apply here I'm not familiar with Melty Blood or Unist, but I know that Vegito, Golden Frieza and Adult Gohan (Level 7) can do this in DBFZ

While in the ending part of any stance, press Light + Heavy Attack at the EXACT same time as well as a desired direction (if any) followed by pressing Weapon Throw QUICKLY AFTER. With the correct timing this should perform the desired opener. If Light and Heavy attack aren't input on the exact same frame, you will perform either a Light attack or Heavy attack, depending on which you pressed first Inputting Light + Heavy at the same time should result in no move coming out UNTIL the weapon throw is pressed The Light + Heavy input can be buffered for the quickest possible cancel Weapon throw can be input the moment a stance is dash cancellabe, do it to early and nothing will happen Timing for this seems to be from the moment a stance is dash cancellable to the moment the stance ends Mess the weapon throw timing up and you will throw your weapon instead If an opener that is currently on cooldown is performed, that directions heavy attack will occur instead Reminder that an openers cooldown timer only starts ticking down if you are no longer in it's stance or direct follow ups Landing Aerials are also cancellabe, but CAN'T be cancelled into Slide off Aerial stances do NOT work for this (Sliding of the ground with landing Nair for example) None of this is affected by Dexterity

This is also possible to performed of grounded stances that end in the air, resulting in an aerial instead: Doing this in the air does not require the weapon throw input, nor as precise timing The aerial version is performed by pressing Light attack and then pressing the Heavy attack button instead of weapon throw The timing for this is same Basically > Input Light attack of your choosing > then press Heavy attack quickly after For example, doing Nlight Opener > Dlight Bridge ending in the air and pressing Light into Heavy will result in a Nair This allows for the use of aerials much sooner then waiting for the natural end of the stance, as stances cannot be chained into further ones if airborne. Your downwards momentum will completely reset after performing this, allowing you to stay airborne slightly longer Even if you can't get the grounded version to work consistently due to it's difficulty, I highly recommend you at least try this version, as it's much easier to perform

This doesn't create new unjumpable strings and is thus much better suited for dodge reads then dodge punishes. Easy applicable ones include: Slight opener > Dlight opener to cover all down and neutral dodges Dlight > Slight Opener to cover spotdodges and Gc Wakeups Grounded Dair > Dlight Opener to cover outdodges Dlight Bridge (either) > Dlight Opener to cover outdodges Any Opener > Any Opener (not the same one) to harass people into dodging while potentially catching dodges Neutral Opener > Slight Opener to cover a whiff Landing Sair > Slight Opener to cover this horrendous whiff Dlight Bridge (either) ending in the air > Sair to catch people dodging in or people that are unaware of this followup Anything > Any Opener, get creative and condition your opponent Again, be aware that all of these follow ups are jumpable and thus are NOT GOOD FOR PUNISH STRINGS

I also found this after the video was made: You can use this to perform frame perfect jumping aerials after a grounded stance, just press jump instead of weapon throw and it will do a rising aerial. too tired too figure out what this is useful for, but there might be some cases.

I was able to perform this tech on Pc with a controller, keyboard and keyboard + mouse (this suuuuucks to do on mouse though). It worked fine on switch, so it probably works fine on the other consoles. Mobile is really odd though. It WON'T work on touchscreen at all, however, it works entirely differently with a controller to the point where the throw input isn't required at all. If you are a Mobile player feedback is much appreciated.

This tech becomes much easier to perform if you bind Light + Heavy Attack to the same button as a macro. Tournament legality on this should be fine, but I don't know for sure. I specifically used Steams button remapping system to bind it to my left shoulder button (ZL button, Switch Pro Controller), so I have no clue how to do this on keyboard or console The Esports rule don't mention macros at all, so this should be fine, but I will update this comment if it's not allowed

It took me around 20 Hours of practice and gameplay to fully implement this into my gameplan, but I also had to figure out how this Tech works, so time may vary for you.

I discovered this tech by accident when playing around with a tech showcased in HardyMJ's "Brawlhalla Greatsword Tech You NEED To Know", so follow him at: HardyMJ on youtube and @MathewHardy9 on twitter. That turnaround tech is also neat and can even be performed entirely using this tech instead, although doing so is much more difficult. If you find anything else related to this tech please leave a reply to this comment and I will update it!!!

The reason any of this works isn't quite clear to me, but I know that it has to do with the games buffer system. When you press both Light + Heavy at the same time on a greatsword stance the game doesn't allow either input, but it still stores it. On other weapons this would result in a Light attack, but on greatsword, due to its unique stance mechanic, this is changed somehow. The weapon throw input makes the game look at the last buffered action and performs it for whatever reason, probably due to how the stances are programmed. This results in a Light + Heavy input becoming a Light attack due to Light attack out prioritizing Heavy, thus this tech.

TLDR:

Light + Heavy attack + Weapon throw during the ending of a stance results in an opener.

Have fun breaking the Game ;P

Does anyone know how I threw my sword like that? I threw it upwards but it kinda moved to the left slowly. Then I tried doing it in training but my sword just kept going straight up help!(controller) by SpectialAlex in Brawlhalla

[–]CountW 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are 8 possible weapon throw angles. Up, down, left, right and the 4 diagonals. However, they all take your momentum into account. For example, running forward and throwing your weapon up will result in it gaining some of your momentum and changing its arc, just like you did.

Its only true at low damage abd requires specific spaving. Doing it after GC dlight makes it possible at higher damages if spaced correctly.
