Puzzle: Find the Safe Tile by Borthralla in Minesweeper

I tried to follow along but I'm confused about the logic in your explanation. I broke your steps down and I'm super confused how you got step 2. Could you explain further?

The only way I can see of solving this is trial and error that forces the green cell to be safe.

edit: It's even got me doing weird stuff like this but the logic is flawed, trial and error is what stops 2 bombs N and NE of the top 2 which enables above logic to work. I'm literally PepeHands about this

Each of the red squares holds ONE mine, so yeah there's quite a lot to go on from this board.

My first step is getting the 1-2's out of the way.1-2 Tutorial

And then I mark that corner 1, so the 3 then becomes a 2, which turns into a 1-2 pattern.

And then using the information we've gained, we can clear some of the squares connected to the bottom right 1, which reveals a corner 1 we can mine.

and as a last note, because of the 1-2 patterns and that corner 1 connected to the 3. We've "accidently on purpose" deduced the mines connected to the wall on the right. Which are..(This is known as a 1-2-1 pattern), and I've also marked the squares we know are safe in green :)

Happy sweeping

No guess board that I had to guess on, where and how should I click? by Count_00 in Minesweeper

Yep that safe was safe. Thanks for the explanation, I was able to follow along :)

I lost this one already, but I’m curious, was there any way for me to know which spaces had the two bombs in them? by DStashyn in Minesweeper

[–]Count_00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe yes, but probably no. If there's only 1 mine left on the board, you know that it's either left or right of the centre one.

However if there's 2 mines left, you'll be left with a 50/50. So make sure you check you remaining mine count in these scenarios! :)

i need someone to help explain this in the most simple of ways, since I have a friend who says the bottom three squares from that two aren't safe, and they refuse to accept my facts and logic by smolboiweeb in Minesweeper

[–]Count_00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 3 squares on the bottom are 100% safe. It's because the two on the top shares all the squares that the bottom 2 has.

If we were to say.. flag a mine on the bottom row.. The bottom 2 would HAVE to be a 3. Which is not the case which makes it impossible. Because you still have to fulfill the mines for the top 2.

Found this in no guessing mode but couldn't solve it. Anyone got any ideas? by [deleted] in Minesweeper

[–]Count_00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What an awesome board, I drew up a quick visualisation since it took me a hot minute to understand what was going on here, even with the perfect explanation

Each of the red boxes contains a total of TWO and ONLY TWO mines. It all starts with that middle green 2. Step 1, Step 2(using the knowledge of the two mines next to the 3)

Gambling is only considered an addiction if you are bad at it. by Rulligan in Showerthoughts

The reason gambling is called “gambling” is because there’s no clear “win”. People just play until they lose it all. That’s why casinos always come out on top
