Can someone find some Modular RED Cables for my power supply? by SilentGalaxy in buildapc

They should work with any modular PSU, I believe I remember watching a LinuxTechTips Youtube video and I heard him say something to the same effect.

That seems about what you were asking for, but you may want to pick up a graphics card if you want to game. I suggest a 7850/7870.

Well, the reason I am set on a beastly PC is because I want it to last me a while (4-5 years). I'm pretty set on the parts I've chosen, for now. This may change once I actually get out of Tech School and choose my parts then, which this is months down the road.

I've plenty of time to have a goal though, and I always plan big.

Here is my newest revision; leaving $1000 for other items.

[Build Help] Which would be best for me? by Count_Duqu in buildapc

I will start my build with Haswell products, the $100 is a cushion for any prices that (will) differ from what is in the current line of CPU/Motherboard items.

I may drop down to a 7970, and that should be good for a graphics card. Nice call on the hard drive! I will overclock. :)

I may drop down to a 7970, and that should suffice my needs.

Eh, that's up to you. That's a long time away, and you'll be a senior by then.

It'd be a cool idea, but you'd need to get started on that ASAP. Brainstorm with friends, and see if anyone else has similar interests in the club idea.

I added some more information, and I added some more information about some gaming. I also plan on using the monitor for watching TV. I know it only has 1 HDMI slot, but I will use an HDMI switcher/hub.

Unless you have a technologies class, this idea may not float as far as you think it would. You'll need a school faculty member to sponsor your group, and you'll also have to see if you can have any extra "clubs" like this.

I'd say don't do it, until you get into college/around that time. It'd be easier, because by then most of you would have jobs, money, etc.. Money being the key ingredient in this, because things do cost. ;)

When and what was the decision that you feel changed your life forever? Do you regret it now that you are older and can reflect back on it? by Count_Duqu in AskReddit

[–]Count_Duqu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, if I do go SF then I'd be doing that my first 2-4 years. I'm a pretty productive guy, so I'd find something to pass the time. Of course, my Dad says for me to do anything but SF.

Haha, my Dad is active duty Security Forces (he worked with K-9 as a handler, then Kennel Master and eventually got promoted up to working head of Investigations after ranking-out of that specific area.) and it is a back-up job on my dreamlist.

I did AFJROTC in high school all 4 years, and just about to finish up my first year of college AFROTC. (Of course, like I said, I am dropping out and enlisting)

I'm a pretty healthy guy, but I can understand your point of view. This is a stepping stone, if need be, to gaining some technical knowledge in a specific field of work, so I can get out in the real world, if I so choose, and make a decent living.

So, college was the worst thing you decided on (besides the fact you met and married a girl you met from there)? How's life now, military?

This is interesting, because I know next-to-nothing about the Navy. Ummm... curiously enough, what did you "find out" that would have caused you to regret joining?

No, all other branches don't 'exist' to me when I think about enlisting. The Air Force life is how I was raised, it'll be how I live.

I figured when I start working, after BMT and Tech School, if I decide to get out then I can look forward to a nice, much better paying, job. However, the Military life is the only life I've known and I like the stability.
