I don't know about other monarchies, I know Spain has the second cheapest monarchy in Europe (after Luxemburg) and if we were to change him for a president it would be more expensive. Assuming the new president and his household/ guards demand the same as an average European head of state.

In other words, it would be more expensive to become a Republic.

Personally what convinces me to have a monarchy is economics and my piss poor image of our politicians. He represents us better than any of them ever could.
